  1. we bought an optima in May of 2008, got the steps, ozone, chems, cover (1.5 inch) with lift and it caome to $10K with tax. we love it. plenty big for the four of us plus one or two more. the foot massager in the center was the final deciding factor. one thing to keep in mind is that if you are bigger (either height or width) there is only really one seat that works best (it is one of the corner seats next to the water fall....it is much deeper than the others). the other corner seat next to the water fall has what is suppose to be the neck massage jets but i find that sitting straight up doesnt allow those jets to hit the neck (i'm all of 5'8'').
  2. about a year ago we bought a sundance optima. the main reason was the center foot massager (a half dome in the center with multi jets). love that thing. the tub itself is great. no problems. no idea what it costs to run each month but we live in gig harbor WA where the weather is mild when compared to other parts of the states/CAD.
  3. hi, new tub (up since July 4th), we have the frog, CD Ozone and SpaGuard Oxidizer. total chloroine tests OK but free chloroine is consistantly low. should i be worried? how do i increase fee chloroine and/or should i? also, i've people refer to the frog as bromide (spelling?) but spaguard's active ingredient is dichloro-s-triazinetrione...is it ok to mix and match? any help is appreciated
  4. Hi and thank you for your help, getting new spa and working out the chems we want to use. i travel so daily maintaince is not an option, but i want clear water that doesnt smell like bleach/chorine, etc. deal is suggesting one of these methods chorie bormine silver with chlorine silver with bormine baqua spa i've read enough of the problems with baqua spa that i think we'll stay way. the deal says the silver and bormine is a good mix because it doesnt require daily maintainence and is better for more sensitive skin (our young kids) but i wanted to get your views on the use of silver/bormine or chlorine combo. thanks again
  5. hi, we are close to buying our first spa and reading several of the posts on water chemistry has gotten me worried. i want to do this right so can someone please tell me like it really is, how much work do i need to do (how frequently is the big questions) to maintain the spa chemistry? the problem is that i travel a fair bit and i'm not sure my wife will want to do daily maintainence on the chems. i just need to set myself and family with realistic expectations regarding the effort needed to make a spa enjoyable (spa ick doesnt sound like find....) thank you for your help!
  6. Hi all, still going back and forth between artic and sundance. The sundance dealer quoted a regular price on the optima 800 series of $12.5 but will give us a break of $9200. without boring you with the details, i'm less than convinced that this figure is the best they can do. sooooooo does any one have a suggestion as to how to find the true best price or even the true MSRP (i understand that MSRP is not something that really exsits). thank you!
  7. thank you for the reply. any views on the CD ozone? i read that they were better than the bulb based solution but the sundance dealer told me the bulbs last for 5yrs while the CD only for a year....find that hard to believe....... i liked the sundance a little better but i dont understand why the sundance dealer wanted almost the same money as the artic dealer when the artic had 1/3 more jets, better stero option, and CD ozone. ......
  8. QUOTE(Dennis B @ Apr 14 2008, 09:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, This question is probably directed at Tom from Arctic. I'm in the market for my first spa, new to the forum, and have been reading a lot about all the spas out there. Needless to say, I am trying to determine fact from fiction. One spa salesman (at another spa company) told me that the Arctic Spa warranty does not cover the glue joints and that because there is no foam surrounding the inside of the unit, that the glue joints can fail and won't be covered/backed by Arctic. Is this true? My Arctic salesman, when questioned said he was not aware of that, and didn't say much more to make me feel comfortable. As a follow up, I'm also trying to figure out the complete Warranty info on an Arctic Cub Signature... essentially what is not covered? Arctic is in our final 3 and we're planning to wet test in the next few weeks. thanks, Dennis Dennis, do you live in sound puget sound? i ask becuase that is the same thing i was told by a sundance dealer (almost word for word i wonder if he posts on this board??!!) we're wondering if we go with the artic tundra legend extreme or the sundance optima 880.......artic has nearly 2x the jets but sundance does beat them on the feet massage......
  9. Hi and thank you for your help we are considering the artic tundra legend extreme and the sundance 880 optima and wondered if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions. i like the number of jets (and varity) in the artic but hard to beat the feet jets for comfort in the sundance. I also might say that the artic jets stick out (ie poke my back) more than the sundance. major diffence i see is the insulating panels of the artic vs. the spray fome of the sundance. is there a sigificant diffence in quality? how about the filtration? sundance deal said to go with the light bulb based ozone (isnt that just UV?) vs. the artic with the CD ozone. any help is appreciated. thank you!
