  1. I am not so convinced of the unbiaseness of this report. If you look at the test parameters, not all conditions are equal. Specifically test times. Obviousley the longer a test is run the larger the amount of electricity required. Also no cover data was provided.
  2. No, we are working on that now. The concrete pad adjacent to our deck will be poured Tuesday, and electrical will be installed Wednesday. just a reminder Hydro guy that spa requires a 60 amp service not at 50. Not totally true!! I have a 07 Maxxus which I bought for 10,888. This had no stereo but had steps and the cover caddy thing. It requires 60 amps to run all threee blower, the heater and air blower at the same time. I have mine hooked up to 50 amp service all last winter. You can only run one pump and the heat at any given time or all three pumps and no heat. In 10 degree cold with all threee pumps running, i only would see a 2 degree at most temp drop in 20 minutes. I figures I would try it with the 50 I had already wired to the location rather than flip for the bigger wire. I am not going to wire for 60 after the results. Nice spa!!
  3. I think that is theft! Here in Iowa I had a pad pured and stamped, 4 inches thick to 6 under the tub and I paid $10/foot. That was for wheelbarrowing it 150 feet as well by hand.I had a sidewalk done the other day and that is $6 a foot for 3 inches thick. I would say get another bid.
  4. I paid $10500 for my 07 Maxxus. That included steps, cover, 6 months chemicals. No stereo. My wife and our 2 kids love the tub!
  5. Did you ever get the hot tub? I have an Altamar and it seems to use way more energy than my brother-in-law's Dimension One. How much Kwh/day does it use? I did get the tub. My first bill was around $50. That was for 25 days of use and 5 days a week for 20 minutes. I set it to 104. My rates are .08/kwh. The last bill was a doozy, but I think christmas lights hurt me as well. We are figuring 50-65 a month. I am using the standard mode. I wonder if the economy mode would work?
  6. it just radiates out the front. on high you can feel it from several feet away.

  8. Well i too wanted an outdoor fireplace or a firepit by the tub. BUT after thinking about it, how long to get the wood going, then what do you do when you are done? We opted to buy an outdoor leeisure radiant propane heater from Lowes. I set it right by the steps, and when you get out you can towel off in front of it and be failry warm.
  9. We wet tested several and ended up with the Sundance Maxxus. 07 with Ozone, cover, steps, and 6 months chemical $ 10,900. We love this tub. Lots of room for the kids to monkey without buggin us. Lounger is awesome and large therapy seat is unbelievable. I like the ability to pick what 3 pumps I want on at any given time as well. I am 5'10 and wife is 5'4. Fits us both great. Only concern is the pending electric bill.
  10. I run a 50 amp through 8-3. Electrician said no problem. I am just thinking that the electrical contractor that bid you is trying to soak you for something you may not need,. What does your tub require? My Sundance needs 60 to run everything or 50 and the heater will not run unless you only run one pump. To date we have not had any sinificant cooling issues, and I have not regretted the 50. From what I see you should be able to use what you have and just buy a set of breakers, one gfi and one not and a whip. But that depends on your tub. Of course it is only money and if it brings you peace of mind, go with the EC.
  11. I am not an electrician, but my first question is why are the wires not good? Couldn't they use them? I bought a 50 amp panel and gfi breaker from Menards for $80. I do not think having oversize wire is bad??? You just do not want to overload smaller diameter wire. I would get a second opinion.
  12. On my Maxxus I am able to run almost everything at the same time. It has 3 pumps and the air blower. The therapy seat is unbelivable!
  13. At least you are testing everything! No surprises!!!! I ended up with the Sundance Maxxus after testing HS Vista and Marquis Epic. In hindsiight still no regrets. I love this spa. I only wish I had it wired for 60 amp versus 50. I can run the heat with 1 of the three pumps on rather than all three. But in sitting in it for an hour with 2 kids it only lost 2 degrees. Make sure the dealer explains the jets to you! They are awesome!
  14. Send this letter to them. Many dealers I've seen keep letters from happy customers on display, as a helpful reference for customers. They might appreciate hearing from you. I'm glad to hear things have worked out for you - that's great service! I will definitely send him a letter. It is kind of sad at reviewing this post, I see a lot of attempts to hijack it so folks can banter back and forth. I simply wanted to pat me dealer on the back. I sure as $%#@ did not want a cheap shot aimed at the brand of my spa or its reliability. I spent good money and did a lot of research into buying what my family wanted. From what I have seen in reviewing this site and others, all spas have a problem at any given point. That is where support is very important.
  15. You just did Great dealer Hows one of the best tubs made??? /quote] Apparently the spa isn't that great if it had a issue right off the bat and to be honest the service techs had to make two calls to hopefully fix the first miss diagnosed problem that should have been dealt with before the spa was delivered? Do they wet test the spas? Hopefully they got the kinks out and all is well:) I was a bit upset at first. The first call the tech set the jumper to the 50 amp position. It was on the 60. The problem we were having only was noticibloe at night when the back light is visable, and the heater was on after 96 degrees. So I can see how he missed the problem. The actual problem was a defective ozone generator. It is not a Sundance. I was told they use thie brand that failed because of the warranty being 2 years compared to Sundance's one on the ozonator. The tub now runs perfect and is wonderful. I am extremely impressed. The jets are suprisingly powerful. You actually have to force yourself against the seat on one station, or it will blast you out of it. There is enough room for the wife and I to relax, while the kids play about. Regardless of what anyone may say, I think the effort to come out on Thanksgiving, was above and beyond. I will never forget that. Let alone he fixed the problem so we could enjoy it immediately.
