  1. (old guy) what exactly are you refering to as apool fence ??/
  2. (biggz) go with your instincts and you will do just fine
  3. Since everyone on this site dogs the costco tub's for insulation could you all please tell me where the most heat lost would come from if it's the top of the spa tell me what your covers are using to keep the cost down and please don't tell me it styrofoam wrapped in plastic and then tell me a full foam sprayed in foam tub is more efficient since any fool knows heat rises!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. These type of questions should be asked before the purchase, not after if it serves your needs then and in your price range it was the great deal eveyones happy.
  5. (Good find kengorman) looks like a nice spas how has it served your purpose's as to date???
  6. Just came in from a 45 minute soak, everything still up to par this weekend will be the test it's my sister's b-day and everyone will want to soak will let you know the results approx. 12 people will enjoy the tub I'm not worried as of today.
  7. Great find, very nice lookiing tub it will meet all of your needs and you didn't break the bank congrat's
  8. Bond I'm sure your spa will look great and be running in no time I spent a total of 3 evenings working about 6 hrs on the spa but had to wait 4 day's for parts not including the weekend for the broken manifold replacement and 2 days to have a buddy show up and double check my wiring before initiating power because sometimes 2 heads are better than one when working with 240v. So after 9 days from self-delivery which was late that evening we were hot-tubing and have been for the past 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Since it didn't leak under normal water pressure check your valve gates and pumps connectionsif all is good more than likely a slit in in a hose or a hose clamp has came loose, sorry can't help you on the removal of the skirting but I'm sure some-one on this sight can or ask your local ealer then dig in that area good luck and be sure to let us know your findings.
  10. Ken, I like you still have plenty of other projects that have been laying around the house in which need to be accomplished, I poured this patio in july it measures 24 x 14 x 5 I originally planned on putting a 10 x 10 slab next to the garage but this deal came around and here she sit's. now the wife informs me she would like some fencing to cover 2 of the sides of the tub a man's job is never done but I love her to death and she will be patient as usual and eventully I'll get-r-done.
  11. I truly believe your electrical cost would involve many factors such as your local rate , your total usage per day or month, how could any manufacture make this claim I find it a little like false advertising due to not knowing what your normal temputare is or your wind, cold factor there would be other factors as well, but insulation would help a good cover would be my #1 concearn since heat rises along with how long your pumps ciculate the water.
  12. I like the other respondents have never heard of this tub do you have any other information on your tub, I even did a research and found zilch not meaning it's bad just no result's, if your happy all is well but you should ask these questions before purchasing. keep us posted on how it's working out for you.
  13. Bond and Dave very good observations you are both actually correct the little side cart serves both purposes the top half of the cart is lined with styrofoam along with a plastic liner with a plug on the bottom with a drain hose to let the water out, it will hold 72 cans of your favorite beverage or 6 2 liters the small bottom half could be used for chemicals but my wife is using it for towels for the moment. It will all eventually be in a more organized manner but this was only the 3rd day of actualling using the spa and we were doing the staining the day of pictures this was last saturday. I wish I could take credit for the cart but it is sold locally through menards made by suncast and was marked down 50% off so add another $49.95 to my total cost
  14. Bond, thanks for giving me some heads up on how to post pictures, these pictures were done on a spur of the moment type of thing we still need to fill in some olds screw holes and paint the bottom board and stain the very top of the rail but it's a 100% improvement of when I brought it home with no skirting on the tub, this made it easier to handle loading an un-loading. I wish my deal would have been as sweet as yours be sure to post pictures when you get a chance. Gotta go soak for now!!!!!!!!!!!! then I be doing this
  15. Well I finally was able to upload some pictures not the way I intended for them to come out but you get the ideal, this is my my bargain 9 year old hot tub, total cost for tub, wire and to repair the leaking (cracked) manifold was $700.00. after buying a 4month supply of chemicals, stain for cabinet, and new filters around $850.00 have been in every night since last wednesday the last 2 pictures were of the back side before first coat of stain, I have resoveled the foaming issue eveything is crystal clear for the past few days. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0148.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0147.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0146.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0145.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0144.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0143.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0142.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/dartdoc1/IMG_0141.jpg
  16. hopefully these come out first time trying.
  17. You make a very strong point here do dealer's make such a profit to add these nice features to their stores from the consumers or are they selling so many spas it just make sense to make a store more attactive to the consumer I think point #1 speaks for it's self no dealer makes their store more attractive do to poor sells they wouldn't absorb the cost might lower their product profit first(this is just another way of advertising) you be the judge.
  18. Hopefully someone will chime in but it will be just fine and the warranty will be your guarantee go for it if it fits your needs and budget just MHO.
  19. You are correct on alot of your wisdom and knowledge but the dealer that I have been dealing with at least when I go in has had several customers in there at the same time might be due to alot of people getting around to shutting down thier pools this time of year, but the owner /gentleman and his assitant in which I have both dealt with never have brought up the subject about how good or bad this tub is they both have been willing to help in anyway possible, they seem down to earth and very knowledgeable with all of my needs due to parts and water chemistry i have thanked them personally more than once and they seem appreciative to my acknowledgement towards them, so far we have a great relationship as of to date. The wife just came in from a good or at least in our opinion decent soak at 105 degrees (we have a floating thermometer just to double check the reading from the spa exact temp.'s) so all is good for the moment. The wife just got done staining the wood at least 3 sides today she want's to take pictures of the before and after views but our camerea was dead today so hopefully wil put pics in soon.
  20. I hope you don't mind I added numbers in to your posts so I could respond to them appropriately: 1) Yes. Or actually, I could care less. I don't even consider such a thing when purchasing a car. All cars have spark plugs, don't they? And you have to change them? Yawn. 2) I like accents. What's wrong with accents? I could care less what country the parts come from. 3) You can repair lawnmowers? 4) I've never known ANYONE who stopped using their tub because it was expensive to repair. But EVERYONE I know who owns a tub - every family member, every friend, every neighbor- eventually stopped using their tubs. This was because they JUST DIDN'T USE IT THAT OFTEN. Maintenance became more of a hassle than the relaxation was worth. You see, hot tubs - with a few medical exceptions - are a LUXURY. You don't HAVE to maintain them, repair them, or balance the chemicals. Unlike lawns, furnaces, etc., you can just stop using them. Then, you have a very expensive lawn ornament. And EVERYONE I know who stopped using their tubs thought 1) After a while, soaking in one was not as enjoyable as they thought it would be, and 2) Balancing the chemicals was too complicated. I don't know all of the brand names involved, but I know some of them. And I'm familiar with their purchases - they bought a spa from a guy who runs a lumber yard or a lawn service or a barbecue joint, who also sells spas on the side. They picked out a model that seated the right number of people for the right price, without testing it. And they received little or no instruction on how to maintain/check the chemicals. Now, years later, those tubs are abandoned, sitting half empty, and their owners are telling everyone they know not to buy a hot tub ("You'll never use it!"). I'm sure you can tell me about all kinds of Costco tubs that have been going for years, and people are still using them, and they're easy to keep clean, and everybody still loves the therapy it gives them. But that's your life and your story, and not mine. So, with all due respect, I wish you Costco owners would QUIT INSULTING ME. AND QUIT TRYING TO CALL ME A LIAR. I'm not a salesperson, and I'm not here to push a certain brand of spas. I'm just here to share my experiences and advice. You can share your thoughts, and I'll share mine. We obviously think quite differently, and that's a GOOD thing. Let it go. D.P. Roberts, Have you personally every owned a costco or a non reputable brand spa from most of your comment's I highly doubt it, I'm not going to try to insult your beliefs but this no name spa (blue ridge) sold by lowes and home depot that I now own being 9 yrs and 5 months old is working flawlessly for the past 4 days. You think I'm cheap we'll I'm not rich but I do own a premire luxuary car along with the wifes buick and my toyota truck but I have also learned that some older products were built alot better than whats on the market today. That being said my other car which is a lexus sc400 in which I had to trade my (cadillac eldorado in for due to being in the service department more time in which I care to tell) my point is everything can and will break so where are you once your warranty is out, one of my local dealers yes they sell no name brands like great lakes and nordic tubs have bent over backwards to help me with the parts I needed to repair this tub (like the cracked manifold $45.00) and show me how to balance my chemicals by bringing a water sample to them this dealer has been awsome just a good old boy that want's whats in my best interest to keep selling me his chemicals and any other service related items he even said if theres anything I couldn't get fixed he would come out to evaluate what I needed at no cost except for the parts or if he supplied the service to fix by onr of his crew members my local hotsprings dealer said something similiar to these same remarks but he's additional 7 miles farther away and has a service fee to show up but I was glad to hear these dealers were willing to work with me since I had shopped their store but ended up with this used spa, glad to know some people or dealerships work the old fashion way at least in my area.
  21. My best solution to you try to research and find out who the jets are made by, some are easier to replace than other's but don't give up it wil be worth the time and effort.
  22. You are correct I don't have any expierence from a tub purchased from costco but after reading some peoples views on how cheap these spas were made I for one wouldn't be afraid of purchasing one of them, since every part can be replaced if needed and if this old spa I just recently purchased still has original pumps and all is well as of today I'm in spa heaven. I wasn't trying to bash the tubs sold by costco just simply stating those tubs would justify a simple mans request didn't mean to offend anyone.
  23. As I was reading the entire post, that too was all I could think about. Read post 6 and see were I was coming from that evening after 12 beers was just happy everyting worked the way it should of for such an old spa.
  24. Thank you for your kind reply and your right if my wife and I enjoy the hot-tubbing expierence we might step it up a notch or 2 and if we don't use it as much as we think no harm or foul we'll get our money back great to see some decent folks on this board.
