  1. Hi Terri, I am a Newbie, but you might have an Algae problem. I have a 30,000 gal pool and I add 9-10 oz of Algaecide a week to keep my pool clear. When you see Algae (in my case - Mustard Algae), then it is out-of control. I think the water turns cloudy as the algae grows. I also put a clarifer in my pool (every 2 weeks) and that keeps it sparkling. You don't add it until you backflush first. Jan
  2. First, I would call the Better Business Bureau of the State that Way Tec is located in. See if they have a good rating or other complaints on file. Then, I would obtain the CEO - President of the Company's name and write him a note stating your problem and how long you have had it. I would demand a response in 3 business days or else you are contacting the State (the one the company is in) Attorney General's office and filing a formal complaint. I send the letter certified and request a signature from the Addressee. That way, should this case proceed to small claims court, you'd have proof that you tried to work with this company. When you compose your letter, be sure to add in all the appropriate dates and the people whom you have spoken to. Show the reader what your steps have taken in being reasonable to get your problem resolved. Believe me, I have written several such letters on various business transactions and I have had 100% response and resolution rate. A good reputable business doesn't want to tarnish their name or reputation. A fly-by night business is probably hanging on by a shoe string and is purposely avoiding dealing with you because they a) don't have the money or resources to resolve the problem or are a day away from loosing everything. In any event, the Attorney General and the BBB should be alerted to prevent other customers from falling prey to an incompetent, un-ethical business. Lastly, no CEO, business person wants to battle an Attorney General. The legal Fees, let alone the power welded will scare them into resolving this thing fast! If your contract promised on-going service, then restate the wording in your letter!!!! Make their words, their contract nail them. Jan
  3. I am a new pool owner and think that a solar cover(blanket) might be a good thing to have because we live out in the Country and get alot of bugs that drop into our pool. The former owner nixed the cover that he bought (but kept the Reel) saying that it was too much trouble because the bugs would fall into the pool upon rolling it back. I am thinking that the juice might be worth the squeeze IF I used a leaf blower to blow them off or maybe a wet/dry vac? Has anyone out there in Pool Land found an ingenious way to combat this problem? If so, I'd love to hear it! Jan
  4. Thanks Pathfinder. I will take a pic this weekend. I also have questions about the vaccuming system. We have a sand filter and I did see a vaccum hose and vaccum head in the Pool Box. From reading some of these posts, I have ascertained that perhaps I am able to hook it up to the pump or filter system? Currently, we have an Aqua Robot who does an "okay" job getting the bugs that float to the bottom, but I want my pool to look pristine clean. I found a battery charged vaccum called "Pool Buster Max" that holds a 1 hour charage and works with all telescopic poles. The former owner told me that he didn't like messing with the vaccum system and that is why he bought the robot. I also found a wench in the basement that once held a pool cover. The former owner didn't like using a pool cover because he said the bugs would drop into the pool, cause a bigger mess each time he rolled it up. I thought if I buy the Pool Buster Max, I could vaccum them off, then roll it up. I really want to find a maintenance plan that is time efficent but does a decent job. I love cleaning/messing with the pool first thing in the morning because the clarity of the pool is so much better that time of day. Pathfinder, could you tell me what your pool maintenance consists of ~ daily???? Jan
  5. Hello, I am a Newbie Pool Owner. We recently (as of 8/2/07) bought a house with an in-ground pool that is 40x20 and holds 30,300 gallons. Anyway, the liner (which is 8 years old) got a tear in the Right upper corner. It has a patch on it, but is starting to pull away from the side. When should we put in a new liner? After pool season (Sept. 1st here in Ohio) or wait until next spring? Thanks, J
