  1. We had looked at a variety of tubs and could not decide. I ended up taking a similar approach to when one buys a car and e-mailing hot tub dealers within a hundred mile radius of where I live. The dealer (where I ended up buying) had several left over 2007 models and wanted to move them. They quoted some excellent prices and I went to look. The Hartford was the nicest tub I could find at the price point I wanted to pay (and it actually came in less than my price point.) It is a good, solid, quality tub. It does not have all the "bells and whistles" but I didn't want those anyway. I enjoy the way it sits and the number of jets are more than adequate for my needs. We were looking at the Jacuzzi 280 also but the deciding factor was price. Still do not regret the decision.
  2. I bought the $29 special at Menards (1/4 horse utility.) Works just fine.
  3. I have some knowledge of this tub, as I used to own one exactly like it. I'm with Roger, I would have filled it up and let it run for several days to check for leaks. If it did not leak, I would spend the minimal amount of money to get the heater fixed. In regards to topside controls, mine had the old air controls also, but when my spa pack went a digital control was included ($700 installed in 2003 .) It was a great tub, but mine got to the point where I could not justify throwing huge amounts of money into it. Since you are this far into it, put minimal $ into it to get the heater fixed, stain it up and enjoy it.
  4. I have a Sundance Hartford, would this be compatable?
  5. Does anyone have any recommendations for a wireless spa monitor? I purchased a Fiberstars unit in January and the exterior sensor went bad in April. Called the company and finally reached someone who sent another unit out. Now, this unit has gone bad. Looking for something reasonably priced but that has a longer user life than 3 months.

  7. My first tub was a vita w/ the ozonator. After the ozonator died, I never had it replaced. Did not have one put on the Sundance, in fact, the salesman discouraged it. I never noticed any appreciable difference and would not spend the extra to have one installed.
  8. I have an 07 Hartford. Paid $5600 w/everything including a cover lift. Have been extremely happy with it. Good value for the price point. Sounds like price is right on.
  9. Just purchased one of the spa test stripreaders. They are great. Easy to use and much more useful than the old style strips. Best price I found was online@ Spa Depot
  10. It sounds like you got a good deal. I just bought a 2008 Hartford this week for $5,950 with stairs, cover lifter and chemicals. It was originally listed at 6,695. Bad news is that he was misleading you on the original value. Ours has all the bells and whistles you can get on this model. Luckily you got him down to what sounds like a real good price. Sounds like you both got a good deal. If you don't mind answering, where did you get such good deals? We're in Michigan and I'm not getting that deal....yet. Thanks for posting the info, it's helping me work a deal. Purchased at Litehouse in Mansfield, Ohio. I purchased the last Hartford in the crate--they still had the floor model.
  11. As I had previously posted, we were in the market for a Hot Tub and my wife and I couldn't agree on what to get. We had looked in our local area and could not find anything that we could agree on. So I decided to start looking in a 100 mile radius by e-mail. Found a Sundance dealer 60 miles away who has about 6 2007 Sundances. After talking to him on the phone after the e-mail, I went up. Ended up buying a new in the crate 2007 Sundance Hartford (he says it lists @ $8295, but who knows?) with cover and cover lift for $5600. He waived the extended delivery fee (was going to charge $ 3.00 a mile over 25 miles, which would have cost me $210.) Ended up with no choice in the color (Twilight/Burchwood) but at this price, we'll just have to adjust. Without a doubt head and shoulders anything I looked at at or near this price point. Opinions please, how did I do?
  12. Finally, our 14 year old Vita Spa died. We have been looking and presently have found two. We looked at an Artesian Captiva. Price is $5800. Negotiated throwing in coverlifter, ozonator, and optional lighting pkg. Second option is one that I'm not familiar with, a Sunrise Odyssey. It is canadian built with a steel frame and a 5 yr warranty. Got price down to $4999 from 5800 without effort. This is the last one dealer has and he seems motivated to move it. Am considering the Sunrise because it is from one of the largest and most reputable dealers in our area w/20+ years experience. Does anyone have any experience with these two spas and perhaps some feedback on the pricing?
