  1. Thanks Parawood and Spanky...Seems like about half should do the trick but i"ll be purchasing that scale from Walmart just to make things precise...BTW, can i add the Borax at any time or should it only be done on a fresh refill???
  2. Just did a fresh refill and about to try Borax for the first time ..I have a 465 Gal tub....According to the pool calculator i should be adding 21-22 oz. (BY VOLUME) of Borax to get to about 40ppm Borate level........The question is how much Muriatic Acid too add, BY VOLUME so that my PH remains stable???.....It Only shows how much BY WEIGHT to add and i have no means to weigh any chemicals ...
  3. Anyone know why my FC and TC would rise after a non-chlorine ( Leslie Pools Fresh N Clear) shock ( tested about 2 hours after the shock)...My FC went from 2 to 4...My TC went from 3 to 4...
  4. ok..great....Thanks...I had visions of staining (white) my new tub...
  5. Can anyone tell me if this is the bleach i should be using to sanitize? Bottle says Clorox Regular Bleach (which i assume is unscented),but it also says "Patented Whitest Whites Technology" on the bottle...Is this an added whitener or does all regular bleach have whiteners in them? BTW, the listed active ingredients are: Sodium Hypochlorite( 6%); Other ingredients (94%)...Yields 5.7% available chlorine... Thanks..
  6. If according to "The Pool Calculator's" saturation index, my water is balanced (-.3 to .3), does it really matter what my PH and /or TA numbers are, as long as I have enough Sanitizer to be healthy? Are there absolute numbers above or below which PH/TA is unhealthy, regardless of the Pool Calculator Index?
  7. If according to "The Pool Calculator's" Saturation index , my water is in "the balanced" range, does it matter what my PH and/or TA numbers are as long as I have enough sanitizer to be healthy enough to use? Are there absolute numbers above or below which PH/TA is unhealthy, regardless of the index?
  8. Thanks Chem Geek...Your info is really a big help..
  9. I guess it makes sense that the pool supply store doesnt want people to use bleach for economic reasons....I'll make the switch...Also, once you've started with the bleach, is it ok to still use the dichlor at times? I'll be away for a week and wont be able to add the bleach every day or two whereas with the Dichlor shock, I could probably have decent FC levels while away?
  10. I have a rising CYA level (been using Dichlor) and need to start using another sanitizing method....The salesperson at the pool supply store told me not to use bleach as it contains impurities (metals?) which are not good for the tub...Any thoughts?
  11. Have my Tub open for about 10 days and all my numbers have been pretty good....When should i shock treat and how often??? Currently, i"m using chlorine to maintain and have a product called "Fresh 'N Clear ( From Leslie"s Pool) for the shock..
  12. I bought the $29 special at Menards (1/4 horse utility.) Works just fine. thanks, i bought the flotec utility pump...also, 1/4 hp but alot more than $29...Home depot
  13. Can anyone recommend a pump for draining my Sundance Chelsee? How big a unit (GPH) should i buy?
  14. Purchased a Sundance Chelsee today..The dealer is giving me a choice between installing a "standard ozone" system or for an extra couple of hundred dollars, a higher output ozonator...Anyone have any thoughts on if it"s worth the extra money?
