Above ground pools are really a great fun and joy. One of biggest pleasures is beating the summer heat with family and friends. I am just looking to buy a new above ground swimming pool this summer. It's really a very daunting task to get the right one because of so many choices and such odd terminology, hopper bottom, skimmer, return lines, cove etc.. I searched online and found some really good ones at Sears. Need your suggestions and ideas to pick the best one.

Thanks..

Based on our personal experience.

Buy an aluminum pool.

Sink it at least partially into the ground.

Dig out ground for extra depth and get an extended depth liner.

Have at least two outlets from the pump to your pool.

Have a main drain added at the deepest part of your pool.

Buy an in-ground quality pump and filter with plenty of power to suck water from skimmer and main drain and push at good pressure back out to two outlets back to the pool.

We did all of the above and we have an incredible pool - 27 ft round with almost 7 ft center depth and VERY easy to care for with the powerful pump, filter and outlet/inlet system.

GoodLuck

Since your above ground pool is an important addition to your yard, its placement is very important. Keep these tips in mind:

Sunny areas- Will help keep your pool water warm

Wind breaks- Wind blowing over a pool can greatly increase evaporation.

Entryway-Make sure the pool will be easy to access and see from your house and think through walkways, patios, and decks you may need or want to add.

Equipment shed- The shed will protect equipment from the elements and can be an attractive addition to your yard.

Accessories-If you plan to add a deck, patio, slide, or spa, be sure to allow enough room.

Size and Shape

Size-The size of your yard and the amount of space you are willing to allot to a pool will determine the size you need. The smallest pools range from 15 to 18 feet in diameter and the largest can go up to a 30 foot round or an 18x36 foot oval!

Shape- either oval or round

We are looking at getting an above ground pool this year and I'm glad I found this post as well as another I found. What make, if you will, is your pool imnay?
