Nature 2 And Bleach

I want to fill the spas... add a Nature 2 system... add 30ppm CYA in the form of liquid conditioner... then add 6% bleach right after that to achieve the recommended 12ppm FC... then switch to MPS there after with only a bleach shocking of 12ppm every two weeks... Now with that said, the Nature 2 system instructions say you must use dichlor on the first fill to activate the system before you switch to the MPS... Why is that? Will not the chlorine in the bleach activate it? ~ Karl

It probably will work, but maybe the chlorine level will get to high if you use bleach -- remember that Dichlor adds CYA with the chlorine so the active chlorine level gets somewhat limited. If you wanted to not switch over time from Dichlor to bleach, you could use Dichlor as Nature2 wants, then add Instant Pool Water Conditioner (a liquid form of CYA that mixes readily) to get the CYA the rest of the way up, and then just use bleach from that point forward (except remember that CYA does slowly degrade, so Dichlor for one day a month is recommended).
