nj245 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Hey everyone. I hate being that guy with the noob questions but I recently inherited a pool by way of home purchase. I have been researching like crazy to get up to speed but unfortunately I am starting at zero knowledge and trying to work my way up. I've done several searches here on the forum and haven't quite found my answer. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Problem/Symptoms: • There is no pressure in the port that connects to the polaris pool cleaner. • Placed my hand up to the port with the pump running and their is no water movement. • With the polaris plugged in, just sits there and does nothing. • Water pressure IS coming out of the other port (return port?) Troubleshooting done with no improvement: • Replaced missing pressure relief valve. • Local pool store guy said making sure both yellow dials on the timer were set to "on" concurrently - did this but resulted in no improvement. (it looks like previous owner may have spliced the wires on the timer to run both off of one dial) • Realized the water level was too low. Filled so that water was about 1/3 way up skimmer wall. • Cleaned out skimmer basket. Other misc: • The shed that housed the polaris cleaner also had the pole and wheels portion of the vacuum assembly. Although I assume that I am on a pressure system now as the polaris looks cleaner/newer than the vacuum pieces. I realize the answer to this may be painfully obvious so I am ready for some noob humble pie and won't take it personally (gotta start somewhere). I will probably end up spending quite a bit of time around here as it is. Again, thank you, thank you in advance for any help. Quote
