Above ground pools are easier to maintain for the simple reason of being above ground. In ground pools are down low, meaning that debris can easily get into it, and animals such as dogs, cats, and even squirrels have easy access to it. Above ground pools on the other hand are a bit higher up, and make it hard for animals and debris to gain access to the water. Those of you who are looking for a pool that requires less maintenance - should look into an above ground swimming pool.

Above ground pools are also safer for children as well. Children can easily fall into in ground pools, for the simple fact that they are low to the ground. With an above ground pool, children have to climb a ladder before they can get in the water. This can make it hard for children to gain access, which is exactly what you want. If you have young children at your house, you can count on an above ground pool to provide a sense of security.

I'm not sure of the point of this post.

Actually, inground pools are significantly easier to maintain than AGPools because they typically have better and more efficient filtration systems with more water inlets to the pump/filter and more outlets from the pump/filter and to go along with that a more powerful pump so that the volume of water in the pool cycles totally through the filter much more quickly than with the typical AGPool with a single water inlet - the skimmer - and a single water outlet from the filter and a lower power 110watt pump.

Our personal opinion is that it is about as easy to have a child drown in a AGPool as in any other type pool which is why most pool safety laws require same protection barriers for AGPools as InGround pools.

I am not putting down AGPools as we carefully compared the benefits and drawbacks of both types and chose to have a hybrid - a AGPool sunk partially in the ground with extra water inlets and outlets and a gunite floor for under our liner with extra depth and we chose that option to get the features of inground while saving a ton of money by putting an AGPool on top of an inground support structure and filtration system.

Anywho, that's our comment to the thread.

I too am unsure of the orignal post ? but FWIW....

I belive AGP are easier to maintin as they usually have less water, and are shallower than in ground. This makes for better water circulation and ist's a lot easier to vacuum an abover ground pool than a deep, in ground pool with slopping sides.( IMHO)

They don't require as powerful of a pump because of the lesser volume. A shallow, round above ground pool is an absolute breeze to maintain.

Both styles of pools have thier pros and cons. The biggest pros for anAGP are thier cost and are easier to install. But I doubt anyone would deny that inground pools have a much nicer look to them than AGP

The saftey factor is debatable and depends on the installation of the unit. I've seen some very dangerous AGP installations. I also belive visiablity into an AGP is very limited and could be considered dangerous.
