buckeyegurl Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 We had a new 27'x54' ABG installed on 7/16. Went for first swim on 7/26 and bottom is still very mushy in spots. There are quite a few spots that are almost bubble like under the liner. Do you think this is an indication of leaks? Installers prepared ground using sand bottom. Any advice would be much appreciated. Quote
quantumchromodynamics Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Some sand compacts better than others do. If the sand was the wrong sand, or the sand wasn't properly compacted, then there will be some softness. Did the installers use a compactor, or did they just trowel the sand smooth? The weight of the water should have compacted the sand by now. It could definitely be a leak. Carefully mark the water level to see if it is going down. Also, dive down with a mask and carefully examine the liner for holes. If you see a suspect mark, you can test it with dye to see if it is leaking. Is the bottom at ground level or below ground level? If it is below, how much below? Have you contacted the installers to let them know of the problem? Are the soft spots near the walls? If the soft spots are near the walls, then the liner may not have been installed correctly. There should be no gap between the liner and the wall or floor. Quote
quantumchromodynamics Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 We had a new 27'x54' ABG installed on 7/16. 27 feet x 54 feet above ground? That's really big. I'm guessing you meant 27 foot round x 54 inches deep, right? Quote
