You can use The Pool Calculator. As for how much bleach is needed to shock the pool so get rid of algae, this depends on the amount of Cyanuric Acid (CYA) in the pool. To start with, I'd just increase the Free Chlorine (FC) by 10 ppm which would be about 8 cups of 6% bleach. Quote
