bgkykingpin Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 http://naturalchemistry.com/pool-and-spa-p...products/show/2 went and bought some from my local pool dealer put it in like 45 minutes ago and still doing the same thing maybe it takes a little longer time will tell Quote
quantumchromodynamics Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 That product does take a while to work. The enzymes break down the oils, but you will not see an immediate result. Perhaps you have more contamination than I realized. The Pool First Aid http://naturalchemistry.com/pool-and-spa-p...roducts/show/10 is for more severe cases and faster cleanup. Quote

quantumchromodynamics Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 More advice: 1) You can buy special oil absorbing foam in various shapes and sizes to put in the water and soak up the oil. 2) Often, swimmers will lie out by the pool and slather up with lots of suntan lotion. Then, when they get hot, they will jump in the pool to cool down, and all of the lotion washes off into the pool. So, they lather up again, and so on. A single person may do this up to ten times or more. This adds lots of oils into the water. It is much worse when multiple people are doing this over and over. You should provide some sort of rinsing facility (i.e. a garden hose) for people to rinse off as much of the dirt and oils as possible before they go in the pool. 3) You need to be sure to clean the cartridge thoroughly before returning it to service. You should get a second cartridge. When the first cartridge gets dirty, you should remove it and put in the new cartridge. Take the first, dirty cartridge and clean it thoroughly with a degreaser, like TSP. Here are instructions from Unicel Filters for chlorine users. ________________________________________________________________________________ _________ http://www.unicelfilters.com/retailers/ci_chlorine_users.asp Remove the cartridge from the filter housing following the manufacture’s instructions. Use a garden hose with a straight flow nozzle to wash down the filter element. Work from the top down, holding the nozzle at a 45 degree angle, and wash all the pleats with emphasis between pleats. Rinse until all dirt and debris is gone. For all spa cartridges and elements used in swimming pools where perspiration, suntan lotions, and other oils are present, soak the element for at least one hour (over night is more effective) in (1) a commercial filter cleaner; or (2) one cup trisodium phosphate (TSP) to five gallons water; or (3) once cup dishwasher detergent to five gallons of water. Rinse the cartridge again to remove oils and cleaning solution. If the filter has a coating of algae, calcium carbonate (residue from calcium hypochlorite), iron, or other minerals, soak the cartridge in a solution of one part muriatic acid to twenty parts water until all bubbling stops. WARNING: Failure to remove all oils and cleaning solution before acid soaking will result in a permanent restriction of water flow and cause premature cartridge failure. Rinse the cartridge clean an reassemble housing. WARNING: Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses when using acid and chorine. Do not add water to acid. Do not mix chlorine and acid. NOTE: Unicel does not recommend the use of diatomaceous earth (DE) with cartridge filter. DE particles will become trapped in the body of the media and shorten cartridge life. If desired, a cellulose fiber (synthetic DE) can be used in moderation. ________________________________________________________________________________ __________ When the second cartridge gets dirty, put the first, now clean, filter back in and clean the second cartridge. Keep rotating like this as needed. Quote
bgkykingpin Posted July 13, 2009 Author Report Posted July 13, 2009 Ok i have tried every thing and still my paper cartridge filter clogs up every 15 to 20 minutes, i was so frustrated until i used my noggin and took the filter out put panty hose around the basket in the skimmer and it actually catches all the small particles just as good as the paper cartridge and greatly improves the flow on the pump too. I will keep doing this until i can get a good sand filter. If you guys have any idea how to help please do. Quote
