We were unable to close our pool last fall before the leaves began to fall and it is so disgusting right now! I know, with a lot of work, we could get it clear again, but were wondering if if would be safe to drain it, clean it, and refill it right away. The liner is appx. 4-5 years old. If we can't drain it all the way, is there a safe level we can drain it to?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I've seen people say it's okay to drain a liner pool as long as the shallow end still has at least 1 foot of water. That should make it easier to get the muck out.

We just drained our AG at the end of last week because the liner had pulled loose around the top in a foot-long section...DISASTER!!! It shrunk enough that it pulled the beaded liner out of the beading receptacle around half of the pool. Needless to say, we ended up bringing in a truck load of sand to add to the bottom thinking that maybe the ground had settled. Didn't help. We finally had to buy a new liner. Our other one was only three years old. Now, from all the pressure (I suppose) of the weighted, shrunk liner, our beading receptacle looks a bit stretched. We have popsicle sticks all the way around the top of our new liner to keep it from popping all the way.

To make a long story short, we will NEVER drain our pool again. My hubby was ready to bulldoze the entire thing to the corner of the yard.
