Guest mjs
Can the hardness in a spa really be too low? My water is relatively soft (zero hardness in titration tests, about 100 ppm on a strip indicator), and my biggest recurring problem is foaming. I saw somewhere (don't recall where) that low hardness increases foaming. Have others heard this?
Guest hottub.pool_boy
harder water foams less. too much calcium hardness (+200ppm) and you run the risk of clouding spa. hot water does not hold calcium in solution like cool water. foaming comes from a number of sources. Family members who take bathes, instead of showers, dunking hair in spa water, wearing clothing in spa-lots of soap left in clothing, don't wash swim suits after each spa use. skin lotions, moisturizers, etc.
