Model 1502M Won't Start High Jets

Hi,

Mate of mine has a hot tub that has developed a problem.

When its first switched on it goes through some initalisation cycle which turns on the high jets for 30 secs or so, then it goes back to the low jet setting.

Normally he says he can press the 'jets' button and it switches to the high jets.

But it is not doing this now. Press this button nothing happens. There is no relay clicking either.

All else is working fine, low jets heater etc., but no high jets.

Even the light is working.

Is the communication between the controller and the board a serial link ?

I'm thinking it is as its an RJ45 connector on the board side.

If it is then it must be working fine as the light comes on.

So could it be a simple as a broken button on the controller ? Seems too simple.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm an electronics engineer so can work my way round the system if I understand how it should work.

Details are:

STRONG SPA ANTIGA

Model# 1502M

PCB PART# 4-10-1503D

On a label on the PCB it says

MINI MAX

CT250 Rev.7

CORRECT-TECH

Thanks very much

Regards

Grant

What a coincidence, I have the same board number in my cedar spa. It has also developed a problem. It runs through the purge cycle and and as soon as the heater tries to turn on, the breaker trips. Everything else works. I've replaced the heater and it still happens. when I disconnect the heater, the problem goes away
