  1. Put in a small heated above ground pool for my autistic adult son this summer. He (and we) have enjoyed it far more than we expected and spend at least an hour a day in the pool. In order to keep going in the winter I was thinking about putting a Fitimax 7 by 7 by 54" therapy pool in a shed that is right next to the pool. I recognize the moisture issues and am going to deal with them but I have a question about heating the pool. If I had my choice we would use the natural gas heater that is used to heat the outdoor pool, run a pipe indoor where it connects to a small filter which then connects to the pool. I would hire someone to run the piping but have not talked to anyone yet. Does it sound feasible to anyone to use the Hayward gas heater in the winter in the fashion I am talking about? I do not want to bring the gas heater inside as I know that raises lots of issues and I'd sure prefer to not use an electric heater as I think I'm pushing it in terms of amperage. Thanks, Jeff
  2. Hello all, We have a fiberglass swimming pool in our home, which was constructed 3 years ago. I used to maintain my pool regularly. But last month I had to go out of state to attend a meeting and my wife went to see her sick mom. So our pool was left unattended for an extended period. Last week we returned home and noticed that our pool had algae formation and each day it is getting worse. We tried brushing the pool on the first day, but it didn't help us. How shall we get rid of this algae?? Our pool is turning green and it is really awkward. I found few tips online to get rid of algae in the pool. It says to use Algaecides to get rid of pool algae. Which is the best Algaecide that I can use in my fiberglass pool? We'll be also trying to shock the pool today. If anyone here knows any other technique which is very effective in getting rid of green algae, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, I've looked all over and can't find any answer touching on this specific problem. When the pool pump turns on in the morning there are bubbles in the pool outlets, but then it primes right away, the pressure builds to about 20-25 psi but then immediately sinks down to 5 psi (within a few seconds). While the pressure falls I get tons of bubbles in the pump strainer and bubbles come out of the outlets in the pool. Then the pump primes again within a minute or two, the pressure gets to 20-25 psi and the process repeats. The o ring on the pump strainer seems fine. I was going to replace it, but while taking it off the other day, water and air squirted everywhere, so that tells me it's holding a good seal. I guess it could still be a problem, what do I know? Also, the area around the pump and tank is bone dry, so no obvious above-ground leaks. A pool company recently replaced the filters. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Maybe the tank lid isn't seated correctly or the drain in the filter tank isn't closed all the way? What could cause a pump to lose prime while running? This is an old system on an old pool. My worst fear is that a leaking pipe or connection underground is responsible. I'd really appreciate any advice!
  4. I'm looking for information for a potential new television show. I was wondering if there was anyone on this forum who might know somebody who's built their own outrageous pool - or maybe you did so yourself? Whether the results were amazing or ridiculous, I want to know about your outrageous pool. Please share your experience.
  5. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried the Solar Sun Rings to heat a pool. I have a 40,000 gallon in-ground pool. My wife wants to get the Solar Sun Rings to try to keep the pool warm. They are expensive, but I don't mind the cost if they work. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you!
