  1. I am hoping someone can help us as we have found no one else who can. We just bought an above ground pool and are having difficulty with the chemicals. We live in the country, so the first time we filled it was from the well. The water was turning green by that night, so we decided to drain it. We drained the pool, and started to fill it out of the house, which is softened by our water softener. So now, the pool is full, the water soft, and we started to float chlorine tablets in the water. Everything was going good up until we shocked the pool. The chroline level was at a 1, and the bromine sky rocketed off the charts. We can't figure out what is causing this or what we should do. Our kids have been swimming in it for 1-3 hours a day, but stopped since they were not feeling good after they were swimming it in. We are new to owning a pool, and no one can help us solve this problem. Oh yeah, and we still have the green water, even though we are adding algecide. The PH level is within normal range, along with the stabilizer and hardness. The chlorine is at a 1 still, and the bromine levels are still off the charts even though it has been 4 days since we shocked the pool. Hope you can help Tanya
