  1. I'd love comments on wooden spas and how they hold up, etc. in a winter climate. Thanks!
  2. oh yeah--I forgot to mention that the reason I said "around 5 feet" is because I figured the city would most likely give me the variance if I were over the 5 feet by only a few inches (rather than by 3 feet).
  3. I appreciate all the input. About the setback law, it specifically says that a hot tub cannot be within 5 feet of my lot line and I only have a 10 foot setback from the house. I'm in Park City, Utah, in the old historic part of town and the fact that the hot tub is portable doesn't matter to the city. On the other hand, if I did a do-it-yourself one which sounds more permanent, they probably would like that even less! I talked with the city again today and at this point I'm going to keep trying to work it out with them b/c I got a glimmer of hope today from them. I'd still love to be allowed to hook up the 8x8 Arctic spa that's sitting on my patio! we'll see...
  4. It's been suggested that I use www.custombuiltspas.com to make a hot tub because I need a shape that's not available pre-made. I'd like to hear what people think about this company and the building process before I go ahead and take the plunge. Thanks!
  5. I bought a nice 8'x8' Arctic spa, but when it was time to hook it all up, the city wouldn't let me because of a property line setback rule. So I need a spa that is close to 5' wide to comply with the ruling. I need a big hot tub, though, and have up to 13 feet in length to work with. Does anyone know of a long skinny hot tub that would solve my problem?? Thanks!!
