  1. Just an update, decided to mess around with this today and everything went smooth as silk. Ran the 6/3, 40 amp breaker/GFCI outside, pulled the jumper and switched the dip switch and everything is running a-1. Ran a quick jet cycle and heat stayed on so looks like we're all set. Thanks again for the help!
  2. Wondering if it's possible that this one isn't convertible. Opened the panel and it's a Balboa sr1bp501. I don't see anywhere that mentions 240
  3. I'm going to add some insulation as it's struggling to get out of the mid 90's with our recent 0 degree temps. Also speaking with an electrician about converting to 240. He's asking what size amperage we need and without the manual I'm having troubles finding it. Any idea how I might figure it out?
  4. Well all was good with it, saw it running at 104, no leaks and all looked good, he even had a few guys show up to lift it onto the trailer after we drained it. Have it set up now, just waiting on it to reach temp. Like a kid waiting for Santa. 2 days and we're up to 91. Hoping by this evening we'll be in for a soak. We're going to build a 12x14 gazebo over it and make a privacy fence around it, hopefully next week then a busy of mine who's an electrician is going to come help me switch it from 110.
  5. Thanks, It does have a cover, from the photos it looks to be in near new condition.
  6. Hey all, going to look at a hot tub early next week, the seller says everything works good on it and he still has it filled in running so I can see it run. I'm new to hot tubs, but I'm a pretty well-rounded handy guy so usually can work my way through most things. What do you look for when you're checking out a used tub? From the pictures that I can see the tub is a 10-year-old plug and play, believe brand is Freestyle? Model IPG 202se, has been kept in an enclosed porch so it's not out in the weather and looks to be in really nice shape. And as a bonus he says he has a bunch of guys he can have there to help me load it on to the trailer. So really I just need to know what to look for while I'm looking it over.
  7. Thanks for the responses. I managed to get out to see it today and they had it "winterized", aka, bottom full of antifreeze and unable to run it. Guy said the led controls are nearly impossible to see so needs a new topside control and hard to say what else so I think I'll pass on it for now. Thinking we might hold out for a new unit, something budget friendly but going new at least we won't be inheriting someone else's problems.
  8. I'm told it should be running when I come today to see it
  9. I have some scrap pieces of 2x4 and a couple lawn mower carts around. I'm thinking about seeing if maybe I can build a four-wheeled dolly using the lawn mower carts wheels/axles and framing it with the 2x4. Laying a couple 2x4 on the stairs if we can slide it up the stairs and then tip it on to the cart I should be able to wheel it out. Definitely a whole lot of "should" in that plan but hopefully when I get there this afternoon I'll get a better idea. I'm fairly capable and have two or three buddies that I think I can probably bring along as well so we might even be able to just pick it up and carry it over the stair section. It's at a airbnb type rental place that doesn't get very many visitors. So I don't think it's been used much. And from what I've read online it seems these are pretty solid hot tubs. She has it listed at $1,500 or best offer, and very negotiable. So I think I can probably get it fairly cheap. Supposedly works a1 and has a new cover so I'm pretty eager to find a way to make it happen
  10. Thanks, I spoke with the neighbor today (owner lives out of country) and he thinks it's going to be quite a job to move it. I did a quick google earth view to get an idea of the yard and looks like a handful of rock steps then just a pebble path up hill to the driveway. Really think so long as the path is wide enough, if I can get it up over the steps it "should" be smooth sailing getting it to the trailer. Thinking laying a couple 2x3's up along the steps we might be able to push/slide it up? Going to stop in tomorrow to get a look at the yard and see if I can work a plan out to move it. Would cardboard be best or some of that corrugated plastic sheet stuff signs are made of (saw a youtube video where a guy made a skid out of one and it looked like it held up ok)? Hoping that I can pull it and have a buddy steady/push from the back, just want to make it easy as possible.
  11. Hey all, new guy here, and new to hot tubs. I'm going to look at a used d1 journey (round tub) this week and wondering about moving it. I've messaged a couple movers and looking at close to $700 so I would like to just do it myself with a couple buddies. I read that it's dry weight is 500lbs, and have seen a couple YouTube videos where a guy "rolled" a square tub to move it across his yard, standing it on edge and slowly rolling it. Would I hurt the tub if I rolled it to my trailer? Seems a simple way to move a round tub but I just don't know if I would wind up breaking the side panels or something by doing it this way. I haven't been to the house yet to see it, but looking at Google maps satellite view it looks like it's in a garden type setting about 100' from the driveway.
