  1. I'm a person who's been looking at tub options for a while. I'm hoping to secure an 8' ARCTIC SPA model (I've been told each 8 footer is the same price) and am looking to share my existing quotes from an ARCTIC dealer while soliciting others to share their recent costs and/or quotes so that anyone else interested in the ARCTIC product can benefit from the data. Keep in mind that these are the initial numbers presented to me and I'm merely trying to gauge the ballpark of what I might expect when I show up next to negotiate some final numbers. I was quoted (within the last week) [all figures in Canadian dollars] C$ 9000 for the DESIGNER series C$ 10100 for the SIGNATURE series C$ 10900 for the ULTRA series C$ 12700 for the LEGEND series C$ 13500 for the LEGEND EXTREME In all cases, these were presented as a "base cost" excluding even delivery and installation. The retail price for various options were presented as C$ 400 - 5" Castcore Mylovac Cover C$ 250 - Microban Upgrade for Shell C$ 150 - Arctic Pure Startup Kit C$ 300 - Tru Guard Heater Upgrade C$ 150 - 36" Steps C$ 500 - "Northern Lights" package C$ 500 - Delivery and Setup C$ 300 - Arctic Cover Lift C$ 500 - "Forever Floor" Upgrade (Base) C$ 250 - "Exotic Jet" Package C$ 800 - "Arctic" OZONE system C$ 2000 - "Peak" OZONE system I ran a mock POLL yesterday, asking the playful question "have prices gone up or am I being taken for a ride?" and got very little response although some PMs didn't hesitate to express the opinion that I was being presented prices far, far above cost. The reason I asked the question in the first place was that I had discovered posts dating back into the fall and winter that showed people getting pretty good deals on ARCTIC spas. ( Just one example: WesJ53's post ) Now of course, my dealer has indicated "substantial savings" over the retail price of these options (such as the OPTIONAL delivery!) by presenting several standard "option packages" which combine multiple items for 60-70% discounts over the list price. But recent posts here in Canada ( for example, indybob's post ) have led me to believe the pricing on these "base costs" can be negotiated successfully. In closing, I'm hoping that any recent ARCTIC buyers can weigh in with any advice on options they now find indispensable (whether they wanted them specifically or if they were bundled) or if anything they specifically ordered has not proven to match value for the cost. Personally, my main option interest is in the best Ozone system. / Thanks for listening and/or contributing to this discussion !
  2. As my post is aging and may have suffered because of the POLL I led with, I'm going to wrap this up while the current tally shows 50% of respondents (in a rather small sample) voting that "I've been taken for a ride..." This exercise will continue in a new post entitled : Current Pricing (cost/quotes) For ARCTIC SPAS / Ontario (Simply FYI if you have an interest in these figures...) / Thanks for all the PMs - you know who you are !
  3. In the spirit of the original post, Thanks again for the pictures. I hope many others will continue to share visually -- if I'm still here when I purchase (more on that below) I intend to share my delivery and installation experiences with the forum. On the off-topic (but important sub-text to this post)... Isn't Jim the guy that said (after yet another ridiculously long and thoroughly hijacked thread) that : Just for laughs, maybe some of you could share some of the lighter remarks that followed his resurrection ! If the otherwise mature and beneficial "community" I've found here has allowed this man's behavior to rage unchecked for this many years, (the record of historical posts speak for themselves) I just may not have the desire to stick around here too long. Jim has been a complete distraction for me in topic after topic after topic. While I appreciate so much of the information I have gleaned from the -- mostly -- agreeable conversations, Jim's entry into a topic almost always signals the end of civility. Of course I've only been reading posts for nearly 8 hours now, but a very negative impression is hard to avoid... Unfortunately, from what I've read, it seems to have worked against the development of a larger and more involved base of end-users/consumers like myself. "Just my 2 cents"
  4. While I've decided to pursue an Arctic Spa, depending on cost negotiations, I thought I would pass these numbers on for anyone who might be interested. Keep in mind that these were the only set of numbers presented and I did not press the dealer on their "best deal." I was quoted (within the last 45 days) J-460 model C$ 10,995 J-465 model C$ 11,995 J-470 model C$ 12,695 J-480 model C$ 13,695 From this retailer, "all J300 and J400 hot tub prices include: Locking Safety Cover Choice of 8 colors Waterfall ABS flooring Dedicated Circulation Pump LED lighting 5 Year Parts & Labor Warranty" Their "optional starter packages" included a Cover Remover and Chemical Kit for $99, or for $209 these items plus a "Deluxe Step." The Option of an Ozone system (not sure of the technical details behind theirs...) was offered at C$ 499. I don't believe delivery was covered by these prices. In addition, a special was offered for purchases before July 15th (Free Stereo with Purchase) and this same retailer is now entering a "tax free" sale which delivers better savings if the stereo is not important to you. Thanks again to all of those who have helped me get an accurate picture of current costs & quotes for ARCTIC SPA tubs, since that is still the system of choice for myself if I can get the deal I want. For those who have asked me to share what I have found in a new ARCTIC SPA pricing post, please be patient -- I should be back on the board later today or this evening... The intent of THIS post is to encourage people who have recently bought a Jacuzzi or have recently been quoted pricing on a Jacuzzi to share it with others who also share an interest in these products. I hope this helps you if you are looking at the Jacuzzi line of spas.
  5. I've collected basic price information from 3 vendors so far but I have not made any commitment to purchase. Before I sit down to do battle I'm trying to collect as much input from others (and actual costs/quotes if possible) so that I can get the best deal. (I'm the kind of person who finds out the dealer cost before I make an offer on a car...) Being a newbie here, I may have made a mistake with including the poll feature as I didn't know that would change the appearance of the post (and possibly affect the viewing and replies...) Many people have used PM to exchange actual cost/quote data with me -- that's what I was actually looking for -- and to those folks I again say many thanks ! I may pursue this topic a little more straightforward (in an effort to make sure this data is available to all forum readers) next week depending on how this thread plays out. The reason I joined this forum today was the fact that in a few hours time and effort using the excellent search features, I found lots of relevant and specific cost information. The fact that it was in most cases 6 months old or older prompted me to create my lighthearted posting today. / Thanks for the reply
  6. Having spent most of the afternoon reading through this forum, I'll go out on a limb and tell you that most of what I've read here puts the heaviest weighting on personal feel and fit of the spa. Nothing else makes a poor fitting tub a good investment ! That being said, I completely agree with those who have written on the value of having good service and support available should you ever need it. Although I've noticed a certain fervor people have when writing about the wisdom of their own decisions, I think this site should be commended for being fairly even-handed (that is, I think many people will agree that there are a lot of well built products out there and ultimately some of your decisions may just be personal preference). I've evaluated Jacuzzi, Sundance, Dynasty, Arctic, Beachcomber and some others. My personal preferences led me to Jacuzzi and Arctic, both of which I went to test. Arctic completely won me over in a direct comparison to Jacuzzi. I've now been to Arctic for additional wet tests as I've zeroed in on the model I want. As you wait for replies to your post, you may want to search these forums (again, a great research tool for gonna-buy-any-minute people like you and me) for the specific topics of service and support on the brands you're getting serious about. Good luck!
  7. I've spent the last 3 hours on this site searching diligently for all the information I could find on Arctic Spa pricing. I've seen some great deals by those who have posted their model information and actual costs paid. Incidentally, thanks for all of the information by users of all brands -- this site has provided me with lots of opinion concerning lots of topics ! I've been quoted 12,500 (CAN$) for an 8 foot model (the Kodiak) but this is without ANY of the features I commonly see included by those who have shared their buying information. The jet configuration is "Legend" but this price does NOT include the features I now want : the "forever" floor, the Microban shell, the Ozone system, delivery and setup. It doesn't include a cover, lifter, any jet upgrades (I hope the problems I've been reading about all afternoon have been fixed), the upgrade on the finish of the heater or any steps. I can't believe the prices I found from a thread last fall where people's packages included virtually ALL these items (and in one case a music system)... Either prices have gone way, way up or... I'm anxious to read the thoughts of this helpful forum. Thanks in advance !
