My test strips have tests for Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine/Total Bromine, Alk, pH, and calcium hardness. I use bromine as my sanitizer in the hot tub. Recently I refilled the hot tub and got a Total Bromine level that was normal but the Free Chlorine reading was as low as the test strip goes. My question is: Should I even pay attention to the Free Chlorine reading? Is Free Chlorine testing relevant when the sanitizer is bromine?
