Quite honestly I would go a different route. Look for a new or used camper hot water heater. Something along the lines of a suburban 10 gallon. You could run it off propane, electric or both. Then plumb a branch line to provide hot water. With the built in thermostat you can avoid boiling yourself if you are set on a DIY project

As stated above, use the Ahh-some and drain it. Then do the necessary work. Trust me no matter how fast you are, water is faster. I nearly learned that the hard way. Luckily for me that one drop of water shorted the switch and not the board. Still cost me $40 but much better than a whole new board.

We recently downsized to a used Solana TX and pretty much love it. Although I do wish it had a little more power and a few more jets. Anyway I have an opportunity to purchase a Caldara Aventine that really only needs cleaning and some basic maintenance. At $75 great deal. So I have 2 possibilities. One is to get it cleaned and presentable to resell at around $500. Or strip it down for spare parts and use the shell as a fish pond for the garden. Which would you do?

J739 how are you enjoying the Solana? Wife and I just downsized to one in December and are very happy. BTW if you are a DIYer and your motomassage stops working check out the fix hack on this site. Saving $100 is well worth the effort.

Had the same code and yes it was a faulty flow sensor. Here is a good download of the various codes.

Thank you. Not really worth the cost involved. During use we pretty much drop 2 degrees over about 30 minutes. So starting at 106 not too bad.

So this new to us 2006 Solana TX has the option of 15 or 30 amp 120v service. Searching around the best I could find on the difference between the two is at 30 Amps you can run the heater and pumps at the same time. Can anyone confirm that is the only benefit of 30 amps.

You're a genius. I just remembered my daughter left about 2 pounds of those in my storage. If I could just keep the wife out of the spa for a couple weeks none of this would be necessary

Yea probably so. Maybe BB's or similar. Don't forsee using this method very much since I ordered her a proper booster. Unfortunately it must be on the slow boat from China as the estimated delivery is Feb 21.

For the time being my wife is using a 2 gallon ziploc freezer bag. Just happened to be the only usable thing handy. But yes it worked well, just doesn't stay put very well. Next time we go for a soak I plan on sticking a 1 gallon bag of sand inside the 2 gallon bag of water.

Just did this repair and working like a charm. $7 and a one week wait sure beats $100+ for a whole new assembly. Have enough to replace it again if needed. Used 12x16 mm tubing and only problem is using the original clamps to hold it on. Couple extra small zip ties on it for now. Will be looking for something like a fuel line compression clamp in the future. Specifically one that will hold up to the water and chemicals.

Well I jumped on the Ahh-some bandwagon and must say I'm highly impressed. Prior to this I had been using Whirlpool purge that I got from Lowe's. The biggest reason I decided to give it a try was my bromine levels were almost impossible to keep relatively steady. Biofilm? Possibly. That and the fact this new tub is 1/3 the size of my old one and this is my first time using bromine (granules).
Anyway first purge didn't seem all that bad. Or at least as bad as I thought it would be. HA! Second purge prove that wrong. Not the heavy scum I saw in other videos, but a constant output of it for well over a hour. When it finally stopped I figured WTH and did a third. Even more came out at first but stopped by the 30 minute mark.
Filled and added appropriate chemicals. All holding steady close to 24 hours later. Will see long term after a few soaks.
