  1. I was able to get mine down to about $7800 including an upgrade on the cover lifter, but at that point I started meeting strong price resistance. Bay Area, CA prices (where everything is inflated) might apply. You would think TX prices would not be as high, so I agree 8700 sounds like the "sticker price" and I'd push back a bit. John, thanks again. Just made a deal on a new caspian for around what you paid. Should have it in about 4 weeks. We're pretty excited, actually like the Caspian better than the slightly larger D1 and Sundance that we tested. Also thanks too the folks that mentioned possible sales tax rebates. I've been seeing a chiropractor for my back, and apparently if I get a letter from her that the spa would be therapuetic, TX will rebate back my sales tax, a not insignificant savings.
  2. Someone in an earlier post suggested Premier Fiberglass. Unfortunately I would have to disagree. They came out to me and seemed pretty friendly and we talked ballpark figures for what I wanted. When they came back with a proposal (by email) , it was much higher than I was expected. I sent a email back asking if they could break down the proposal a little so that I could understand how they arrived at it and what would be the consequence for instance if we scaled back part of the project. They never responded. I'm guessing that they are highballing, and its take it or leave it.
  3. I have no idea what a fair price is in LA but there is one other thing you may want to consider. I just went through a similiar exercise of getting a quote on resurfacing my pool and adding a built in spa. But if my contractor is to be believed ( and I do believe him) the thermal retention of the concrete spa will be essentially non-existent compared to a well insulated fiberglass spa. He told me it would cost about $15 in fuel every time I used the tub, contrast this with about 15/month if I go with fiberglass. I decided to have an add on fiberglass with some stone work around it. Can anybody confirm this about the relative fuel usage?
  4. John. thanks. I've wet tested Sundance and D1 as well as Hot Springs/Tiger River. All were quite nice, but overall I think I lean to the Caspian. The dealer is very nice and helpful but I'm trying to figure out what a fair price is. He's quoting about 8700 for a brand new model, about a 1000 less for a floor model. Sounds a bit high compared to some of the posts I've seen. I think someone in MN said 6800. Even if thats a floor model, its still about a K less than what I've been quoted. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your tub and are happy with your decision. I'd still would like to hear from anyone who has had success with the quote service advertised at the top of this forum. Or for that matter, anyone who has purchased a Caspian in Texas in the last year if you could share what you paid.
  5. Has anyone used the hot tub quote service listed at the top of the forum page at spasearch.org. I went to their site, filled out a bunch of information but couldn't actually figure out how to request a quote. I am leaning towards a Tiger River Caspian and am trying to understand what a fair price is ( central texas.) ,
