  1. I've heard that we should not worry as much about the length because either way we are not really building something even close to a lap-worthy pool...but instead we look at the Super Swim resistance swim system, or a jet-based resistance swim system. Does anyone have either of those kinds of systems and like it? thanks!
  2. Hi there! My wife and I are designing a pool for the back yard. One of the things we're trying to figure out is how long to make it so we can use it for exercise. We don't want a long, narrow lap pool or a small jetted lap pool, because at its heart it's a family pool. Having said that, my wife and I are into road biking and running, so we want to be able to use the pool for lap swimming if we can make that work. As far as our budget goes, we are looking at a 15' x 30' pool design. But we want to get opinions from people on this forum who lap swim in their home pool to make sure we don't save a few thousand dollars in the short run and wish later that we had added a few more feet onto the pool so we could lap swim. I've read that 40' is the minimum for lap swimming, but again I'm looking for input from real-world pool owners who are lap swimming in their back yard. Thanks a ton for your input!! Jason
