I have a 15 foot metal frame pool..The kind from wal-mart..We started filling it up last Friday...Water looked great...When it was finally full (Sunday)..My husband put shock in it...(we know NOTHING about pools btw)...The water still looked great..We were able to enjoy it for a week. Then this morning I decide to go outside and put more shock in it because the water started looking a lil cloudly, but not bad at all. Within 10 mins the water is green. So, I went to Wal-Mart and got test strips, and one of the startup kits for that size pool. The strips showed that the chlorine was extremely low and the ph was extremely low. We added a lil bit of bleach and got the chlorine right. I went back to Wal-mart and got PH Add. My water is still green, so now I am emptying it and starting over. What should I do different this time? Before we bought this house in Oct, we rented a house that was full of iron in the water. I actually have a post on this forum about my brown water. Now, I just pray to god that Im not going to be dealing with the same situation this time around. So anyways, here's my questions. What do i need to use to keep my pool clean? and why didn't the water turn green the first time that we shocked it?
