  1. What damage can occur, if any, when PH goes unchecked, and likely stays at 8 or higher? Related to that, what happens with Alkalinity, (any associated damage?) if it too goes unchecked???
  2. Today, my PH =7.4, TA =60, FC= 12, CC=0, CYA=60, Calcium= 440. Spa stays covered, except when we are using it. We do use it twice a day for approx 30mins. each time, for 2 ppl. (this is heavy use, as I understand it) Foaming is down today but with aireators wide open, it still foams enough for it to be a problem.(in my mind anyway) Sanitation was Dichlor but is now regular bleach. I shocked it yesterday and that did help the CC and possibly the foam. The spa stays covered except when in use. I did leave it uncovered yesterday to reduce FC, after shocking , from 20 to today's 12. Thanks for your help, as I am a rookie at this and get frustrated quickly!
  3. I have shocked the spa to reduce CC. Today my TA is 60, PH is 7.4 with Calcium at 440. (I understand the only way to reduce Calcium is to add fresh water.) What is an "acceptable " level of Calcium? I was using Dichlor and now use Bleach for sanitation. My CYA is high at 60. Again, my understanding is to add water to reduce CYA. FC= 12 with CC=0 Foaming isn't as bad today but it still is foaming. I have the airators open all the way, in an effort to determine just how much freaking foam is possible. I can reduce airation which reduces the foam but that doesn't solve the problem, in my mind, anyway. You indicate you had an infinity, and had trouble keeping it clean. In what way was it tough keeping it clean? And by the way, THANKS for your and everyones help!!!! I an clearly a rookie at this and it can get frustrating quickly.
  4. I have a 350 gal. spa. The TA is 10. The Calcium is 450. The PH is 7.0 the CC is 2 The water in the spa is 7 days old. I replaced it 1 week ago. water temp is 100. I have foam, that makes it look like I have a bubble bath, not a spa. I am using the Taylor K-2005 test kit. My spa is an Infinity Brand w/ no Ozonator. What am I doing wrong?
