I have read and reread the dichlor method by Nitro. I feel like I understand the method. Once I get my CYA and free chlorine level up to the right level I switch to 6% unscented bleach. Does this mean household liquid bleach like you buy at the grocery store? I have a pool that I maintain fairly well for our short Oregon summer and we just recently purchased a hot tub. It is an older tub and the people that had it before us used Baqua. Count me in as hating Baqua as of now (I guess time will tell if I like dichlor/ bleach method better). We have drained the but and ran the cleaner through it, cleaned the filters and refilled the tub. I am adding the metal and stain control since we know we have really high metal in our water. Do I bring the ph and calcium to the right levels before I add the dichlor? I guess that makes two questions. I know in the pool you should make sure those are the right levels first.
I figured we would have to switch to chlorine because that is what the pool is and the kids go back and forth. I think this caused a pretty bad chemical goo reaction as soon as the nice days hit and we opened up the pool.
