I'm guessing I have white water mold, and I'm hoping to try and get rid of it with one flush. Is that possible? The guy at Leslie's Pool said it might be magnesium and wants me to try doing some other things first, but from what I've read if it's mold I need to act fast and aggressively, and I need to know what I'm doing. I really don't want to have to flush and drain more than once. Can anyone help me get it right the first time?
We have a Caldera Vanto with in line Frog System (Bromine and mineral cartridge) with ozonator. At home I was using test strips, but it was hard to keep track of bromine levels with those, since with the Frog bromine/mineral combo supposedly the bromine can be kept low (1 ppm). Recently I noticed a toxic-plastic like smell - I thought the cover was outgassing, but it seemed to come right from the water. I took my water in and was told to add MPS shock (Fresh-n-clear). Also, this whole time my calcium's been very low.
A couple days ago we noticed the white flakes in the water. They break apart easily and don't dissolve in vinegar. I've been shocking and adding an enzyme, but they are not going away.
Here are my latest numbers:
Br 15
CH 60
TA 130
pH 8
Acid 3
Copper 0
Iron 0
TDS 1000
Pho 200
1. Should I continue to use the Frog system after I drain (is it decent or a gimmick?)
2. Can I do the super chlorination with my Frog, since it is Bromine + minerals
(the guy at Leslie's pool said something which didn't make sense - he said that if I added chlorine it would cause sharp crystals to form, but I see the Jump Start by Frog has chlorine, as does the cartridge).
Once I figure out how to post a picture I'll do that, too.
