  1. Can someone please tell me what their proceedure is when they vacumn their pool. I fill my vacum hose with water and then shut th pump off and put the hose in the skimmer. I then turn the pump back on (on filter cycle) and vacum the pool. Once done I shut the pump off and remove the hose and put skimmer basket back and I then backwash the pool and then put it back on filter cycle. With in about 1 hour or so the bottom of the pool is dirty again. Seems like what I just vacumed went through the filter and back in through the return. Any ides ? Am I doing something wrong or could the sand in the filter need changeing? thanks
  2. I got it from a install PDF Form, but I have also heard of many people using it as an alternitive to sand. http://www.atlanticpoolproducts.com/assets...al/concorde.pdf (sorry couldn't insert the link as a hyper link) I also found the foam to be much cheaper and less work. Sand here in Ontario would cost me $38.00 per yard plus $68.00 delivery. Foam is $13.39 per 4x8 sheet. Now I do have to buy the foam coving. But I would still rather foam then sand.
  3. I guess it will compress a little, I am going with 1 1/2 inch thick form. As the setup/install instructions say to. I more I research it the more I like the idea of foam. No worries of wash out. And I think it will do a better job protecting the bottom of the liner.
  4. having a hard time finding the blue board but have found the 2" white foam board. That is what a local pool company uses, so that should be ok. Do you put anything under it between the dirt and the foam board? And once you lay it in, do you just tape the top of it with duct tape? Won't is how the seem lines ?
  5. We are getting our pool delivered next Thursday (or maybe sooner). I am pretty much 99% sure I am going to use a foam bottom and but the cove stuff. For those that have used a foam bottom, what type of foam did you use and how thick. Also do ou just tape the underside with duck tape or do you tape the underside and topside ?
  6. what size patio stones do you use ? I was thinking small 12" x 12" would that be ok
  7. Guzz, Yes I am installing the pool myself. Its only a 12'. Small backyard small pool I guess. Anyways, I too thought you would need patio stones, make sense. Keeps the uprights from sinking. But his answer was with frost. Anyway I am now thinking I am going to use them. I am undecided on the base. We do have lots of little rocks and as best as I try to get them all out sure as heck some will surface in time. SO I was thinking the foam would stop it from coming through to the liner at least. Plus cost wise it may be chaper to do then sand and allot of people say its better ???
  8. I have asked these questions on another site and got mixed feed back would like some more opions. 1st. Sand bottom, 1 1/2" Foam or purchase a Happy Bottom etc. Seems to me that most use sand. I like the idea of foam as its nice on the feet and protects from rocks etc. Happy bottom or somthing like that is also nice but abviously more money. I do worry about how you would seem the type of items together and the seems showing in the pool bottom or the seems separating in time? 2nd. Do you or don't you use patio stones under the wall supports at the base footers? My dealer says no install instructions say yes. I do live in an area that gets frost / snow etc. From what feed back I have both reasons for using and not using are logical. SO I am confused. 3rd questions ( I just thought of) what do most of you make the cove up with? I guess if you use sand bottom you would use sand. But do most of you buy the perfect cove molding ? thanks in advance.
  9. We just purchased our pool and will get it delivered once the weather warms up and I have time to get the ground preped and our deck remodeled. Any one got any pictures they can share of their deck set up with their pool or any good ideas. We presently have a deck and I am going to be reducing the size of it to accomodate our pool. Our yard is not the largest so I have to reduce out deck size. Which isn't a big deal. We actually have two decks right now, one is 16.5 x 16.6 and the other is 8 x 12. The smaller deck is slightliner lower then our large deck and has our hot tub on it. So I am thinking of taking about 5 feet off the front of our large deck to put the pool. We are just trying to figure out how to combine it all to make it look very nice. I don't want the deck to go around the pool but just have a small landing to be able to to get in and out.
  10. We are lookin to add an above ground pool to our yard this year and can get a very decent deal on a demo model the store has on display. The pool is presently on display and is filled. The salesmen said they would dismantle it and store it and keep the liner in water with some anti alge chems to keep mold away and to keep the liner from drying out. I thought this was great. And so did some others on this other forum a frequent. But one person did say that they wouldn't buy that pool unless they gave us a new unused liner. He stated once we put the liner back in the pool we would never get it to fit right and there would be wrinkles. I thought about it and it sounds true enough. Id have to line up the filter and hose cut outs just right. Its a beaded liner. Any one else ever done this and how did you make out? Thanks
