  1. Guys, the dealer has been great. I may have used the recommended electrician, but I contracted him. The dealer really didnt have to eat the extra $550 that the second electrician charged. And it sure wasnt their fault the that the first guy turned bad, I know that the second electricain was having to take care of 3 of the dealers other cumtomers with the same situation. The dealer really came through. American Backyard in Dallas. As for the gal in scheduling, tryint to but me off with startup for 10 days, she wasnt aware of the prior problems, once she was she made arrangements. As for the financing being put in early, well im confident that it will get straightened out. Not like i cant just pay it. No one should be buying a spa that is counting on the financing, figuring they will save the money in 6 months. It just why use my money, for 6 months, when i can use theirs for free. But dont ever miss that payment date at the end, or it just got expensive. as for the cracks by the handle, turned out they were deep scrathes, but to the naked eye looked like cracks. Under 15x magnification, i could see they were just scratchies with some dirt in them. So not that big a deal. It was on the floor when i bought it. one reason i got a good price. Its just the Murphy's Law was been in effect. So i hope when then come today to set it up, all goes well.
  2. I think I actually made the deal on the spa over 3 months ago. Seems like ages ago. Had to do the paver stone patio. what a job that was here in Texas in the summer heat. Then was time for the electrician, got 2 estimants, went with the 900, higher of the 2, as he knew what he was talking about. So he came out, and put the 220 out to a service disconnect, put a 60 amp breaker in the service panel. Said he would come out on the day of delivery to hook up the spa. Well that day came and he couldnt make, it promised to be there the next day. no show, didnt call, finally got a hold of him a week later, be there the next day, no show no call, of course stupid me, i already paid him. SO we go on for couple weeks trying to get the electric resolved, (i used the electricaon the sundance dealer recommended). Sundance dealer agress to eat the extra cost, and sends out another electricain to connect from the service disconnet to the spa, Then he discovers that there is no power, the first guy never conntected to the panel, in fact the 220 run was 25 feet to short, and so he finished the job there too and Sundance dealer ate that cost too. So now I call for them to come out and set it up, get the scheduling girls,, she tells me it will be another 10 days, before they can get out (of course she know none of the history, i have been working with the dealers district manager), so I tell here if its going to be 10 days, they can just come get the damn thing. I get put on hold, then she tell me how about day after tomarrow,, i say fine. So that day is tomarow, anything i should watch for? I just cant stand for one more thing to go wrong. This has been a total head ache so far. i didnt even mention that i took the 6 months free financing, the they turned that in soon as i put the depoit town, not when i took delivery, 2 months difference, that still has to be resoved. my wife and I are starting to call it That Damn Spa.
  3. Just got the Cameo delivered tomarrow. Couldnt get the elextrician out the same day, so it sits waiting on the wiring from the service disconnect to the tub. So when i got home from work i was inspecting it. and I find this very very small carack in the fiberglass by the saftey handle where you would eneter the tub. the crack is only like 3 or 4 mm long, but little things and become bigger, especially in an area where there maybe stress, pulling on hte handle as people get in and out. Is this something i should be concerned about? Can it be repaired? Or should I tell Sundance to come get it? It was last years model.
  4. Well I have the ground prepared and now am wondering agian, should I use Spa Pads. I have ordered the Spa Pads from the Sundance dealer, 4 pads, 100" square totall area with the 4, cost $600. If I do the whole area in pavers I would save about $400. Plus side of pads is, 4 pads covers a lot of area. A lot less work, not as much sand base needed, they are 3" thick, versus pavers 1 7/16". Dont have to haul as many pavers and sand to backyard. It just me doing this. Plus side of pavers, cheaper, maybe better base. Opionions are very welcome
  5. well guess i will forget about the guy with the cheaper bid. Apparently he does not know what he is doing. I would rather spend a little more and get it done right and have confidence that it is. so from all this i gather, service disconnect is to be from5 to 15 feet from the spa and with in site. the gfci breaker can be in the house service panel or the service disconnect near the sap, later desired. I have learned from you guys, Thanks
  6. ok i learned a little more today, talking to the maintenance manager here at work. He tell me, put the GFI breaker in the box, then you just need a service disconnect (guess this is teh quick disconnect)near the spa. He said the disconnect could even be inside the spa skirt, next to teh pump, assuming there is room. or outside where ever. but if its outside, it will need to be in water tight box. So I am still confused where this disconnect should be. Electricion wanted to just attach to to the side of the spa. but i here it should be so many feet away. so what the truth here??? Does anyone put a GFI breaker in the service panel, plus one in the discnnect box? thanks for the help
  7. I have purchased a Sundance Cameo. Im currently working on putting in pavers for the Spa. The electric is next. I have 2 quotes. Once for $889 and the other about $1050. Its a 100' run for the panel to the spa. the 889 guy said he would trench from the panel to the spa, put in all in conduit and mount the quick disconnect on the side of the spa. That is the part that I wasn't to sure about. I think thats where he will put the GFI. Not sure what the other guy plans, all he told me was $600 for hte first 25' and $6 / foot after that. he didnt even look at anything, it was over hte phone. SO. 1. do you have to have a quick disconnect and where should it be. 2. Where is the best place for the GFI? THanks
  8. This is all so confusing. I dont want to spend a hunk of cash and be unhappy. I have looked at a Leisure Bay Santo, 5K, 16 jets, 120v. Wife was with me, it was our first stop. So it gave a good first impression. Wasnt really considerring the higher priced models at that time. 5K was fine with me So today i go and look at Sundance, the 800 series line. 2 pumps, 220v. I looked at the Cameo and Altamar. I could get an '06 Cameo, out the door for 8945. I can sure see the difference, WOW, the sundance camoe and altamar, are way above the Leisure Bay i looked at. Over twice the jets and pump motors. I have read all kinds of reviews, and my gut says pay the extra $$ and get the Sundance. But the wife is thinking, its jsut the hot water that help the muscles and they all have the jets where you need them. And teh extra $$ is a waste. Im just afraid that the Leisure Bay Santo that i looked is just hot water that bubles. This could probalby be said of all the low end models of the varous manufacturers. Right now I am close to just forgetting this idea and buying new pool furniture, can fill the same space alot cheaper. How can I justify the extra cost to the wife, or can I?
