  1. I left it plugged in and in the morning it was working and got up to 104 degrees. But now the pump cycles on and off about every 10 minutes. Does anyone have any idea what would cause it to cycle so frequently? Thanks!
  2. Hot Spring never responded to me, but I found the ohm reading for the thermistor at backyardplus.com My thermistor was right in the range that the chart says it should be. 5.4k ohms at 102-103 degrees F. I plugged the thermistor back into the control panel and powered up the hot tub and now as soon as the heater kicks on, the hot tub shuts down, and I get a ---- message on the control panel. Looked in the manual and they say it's the pressure switch shutting down the tub. All I did was unplug the thermistor, test it, plug it back in and now my tub doesn't heat at all.
  3. I would be happy if I could get this thing up to 104-105. I set it at UT-4 because it's the highest setting, but it's obviously not getting that hot. Any idea what the ohm reading should be on the sensors, or where I can find that info? I have the user manual, but it doesn't have service specs. I am running it on 115v. As far as I know everything is original. I don't have the serial number handy, but I will try to find it. Thank you for your help castletonia!
  4. This model doesn't display the temperature of the water, only the temperature that the heater is set to. I'm using a high quality handheld thermometer to measure the water temperature. UT-4 shout be around 107, but the water has never gotten above 102.
  5. Hello, I purchased a used Solana TX hot tub. It is about 10 years old and had been sitting empty for about a year before I purchased it. I set it up and it seems to work pretty well, except that it doesn't get quite hot enough. I have it set at UT-4 and the water is only heating to 102. The display says "ready" which I believe means that the spa thinks it has reached the set temp. I am using a thermoworks thermometer to check the water temperature. I'd like to figure out the problem, but I'm not sure where to start. I have tools and a couple meters, and am pretty good at diagnosing things if I have some guidance. Thanks! -Tim
  6. I ended up cutting the wire to the magnetic switch and wire nutting the two wires inside and the hot tub came on. Now I can test it out.
  7. Hi! I'm new to hot tubs and to this forum. A friend of mine has a 1993 Sovereign hot tub that runs on 110 volts. It has worked great for years, she had a new pump installed this summer, then after she drained it and refilled it, it wouldn't work again. She said I can have it for free if I want it. It's in good shape for such an old tub, she clearly took good care of it. When I plug it in, nothing happens. Nothing at all. I dropped the black control box down, opened it up, and confirmed that it's getting the 110 volts. I'm pretty handy, and know quite a bit about electricity and do all my own household wiring, etc. But this is the first time I've worked on a hot tub, so I could use a little guidance. One thing that I did notice missing is some type of metal or magnetic device for the door switch. There's a little black thing at the bottom of where the door goes, but there's nothing on the door, so I'm wondering if that switch is preventing it from running. Is there a way I can bypass that switch for testing, or something I can put on the door? Or maybe someone has some ideas of things to test to determine if this tub is even worth fixing? Thanks!! -Tim
