  1. This is a bump - any help would be appreciated. Else thinking of dumping water. Still following cycle above. Adding dry acid to decrease pH. Doesn't seem to have any impact Occasionally adding Sodium BiCarbonate to increase TA. Both TB = 4 and CH = 100 ok. How do I get pH down please (full details in post above).
  2. Hi All, I have done a bit of reading and successfully used the 3 step bromine process for the previous 6 months. I emptied the spa and refilled 2 weeks ago but this time I'm struggling. Any help would be appreciated please The spa is 1150 L capacity (thus have gone with calcs on 1000L water) Also I have the Taylor K-2106 kit. Steps to date: At Start: TA = 10 pH = 7.4 CH = 20 TB = 0 I added 158g Sodium BiCarbonate ==> TA now 100 I added 144g Calcium Chloride ==> CH now 100 Ph = 8 (may be higher?). Not sure why changed? I added 65g Sodium Bromide Also added 80ml chlorine (12.5%) to shock And some tabs in a floater Let it sit for a couple of days: TA = 125 pH = 8 CH = 125 TB = 1.25 Starting adding pH down (dry acid) eg. 14g, 14g, 14g, 25g, over a few days but pH would not budge. Readings now TA = 75 pH = 8 CH = 125 TB = 2.5 Have just added 44g Sodium BiCarbonate to increase TA. Also the water is a bit cloudy (not sparkling clear like I have had in the past). I have shocked the spa by adding chlorine and also cleaned the filters, but this has had minimal effect. Any new ideas appreciated to return spa to ph of approx 7.5 and clear water Thanks
  3. Thanks chem geek, I will add 247g of the granular spa bromine over time and when done will switch to add only chlorine to make use of the new sodium bromide bank. Thanks for your help.
  4. thanks Chem Geek, for the calcs/advice above. I've done some more reading to try and understand your answers and work-out how many grams of my 'granular spa bromine' I need to add to get to 60 ppm bromine for my spa size. How does this sound (apologies, but I need to use metric)? 60 ppm bromine is the target (conversion of 60ppm = 60 mg/L) I have 1100 litre spa (lets say 1000 litres is the water fill component) therefore for 1000 litres, I need 60,000mg - then to convert mg to grams = 60,000mg /1000 = 60 grams bromine Do I need to add 60g of the 'granular spa bromine' in total (this doesn't sound enough). Or is it something like as the Sodium Bromide is 150g/kg of the 'granular spa bromine' then: 60g bromine = 1000/150 times 60g = 400g of the granular spa bromine. OK - I still probably haven't got it - but I am trying? In summary, I'm trying to work out how many grams of my 'granular spa bromine' I need to add to get to 60 ppm bromine for my spa size of 1000 litres I really appreciate your help thanks
  5. Hi chem geek, Thanks for your reply. I searched on all the names you supplied above and no hits from Australia (plenty from USA though). I went to Three shops over the weekend and they had not heard of the bromide sotution. If I cannot find Sodium Bromide, what are the suggestions to quickly build a sodium bromide bank. if any? Thanks
  6. Hi All, Have been doing some reading from this forum on the 3 step bromine spa. Have followed the guides and PH, TA and Ch have all been balanced. I have the Taylor's k2106 kit and followed some great posts. The issue I have is that I cannot find Sodium Bromide anywhere to be purchased. I have found the bromine/chorine tablets. The chemical I have found in Australia is Granular Spa Bromine I have found Granular Spa Bromine (510g/kg available chlorine available as Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate and 150 g/kg Sodium Bromide). Will this work instead and build a bank over time? If I cannot build a bank with this product and cannot find 100% sodium bromide - any other suggestions on how to build a bank. Will the Granular Spa Bromine work as my weekly shock (if the bromine tabs are keeping levels at 5 ppm)? If not, what should I use? Thanks - appreciate your help (Am reading the forum further to expand my knowledge)
