  1. Steve, Thanks for the reply. That is not what I expected to hear, I have replaced many capacitors on multiple different types of motors and gotten many more years of service. Its like replacing a shoe that only needs a new shoelace. However I do understand that it could be signs of a more serious motor problem and from a field techs standpoint, there is less chance of having to return to fix the unit again. However I am still wondering if these units have run caps also. And when the pump is running if all the jest should have flow because they do not. I have never seen this unit fully operational to compare it to so I am not positive what to be looking for.
  2. I have a 2006 hot spot Mallorca that I recently acquired. When I first powered it up, I ran a clean cycle like the manual recommends. It ran fine then gave an error with lines across the LCD. Insufficient flow motor was humming and hot. Found a burnt cap on the back of the motor under the plastic cover. Replaced the cap. 250v 53-64mfd. New cap motor starts fine then runs a cycle and I walk away and same error. It's intermittent. Is there a run cap on these motors? I can't seem to locate one. It also seems the motor is only one speed which seems to be low.
  3. Do you think it's OK to rebuild on its side or should I flip it all the way over?
  4. Just to follow up I safely got it off my truck. I started a new thread with a few other questions. Thanks
  5. There were 2 bottom plates on my spa. The lower one fell off during the move. The second one is rotted badly but still intact. I want to put a few nailers in place to hold everything together then remove the 2nd bottom plate and replace it with treated lumber. Can anyone provide any insight? I dont want to comprimise the structural ridgidity of the unit. Thanks
  6. Well I got it back to my house. It still on the truck. Im adding a picture. Does anyone have any good ideas to get it down? Its still on the bed. Also, are there any guides available to help me understand the workings of hot tubs? I am fairly competent in mechanical things. I have rebuilt motors etc so Im sure I can understand the workings but I have zero experience with hot tubs. Thanks https://www.dropbox.com/s/dpui3vsfrtm6dri/IMG_20130606_193844.jpg
  7. I'm being given this tub. I'm curious if it is any good it is in a home that was purchased by a friend he does not know anything about it. Are they quality units? I was planning on picking it up tomorrow. Thanks
