Hello - I recently moved to Southern Nevada (outside Las Vegas) from the midwest, where all the pools I've ever had used vinyl liners. Out here, no one builds them with vinyl liners, and they all say the heat will ruin them (but they have no problem selling you an above-ground with vinyl lining - odd....). Anyway, when I challenged someone who wanted to sell me a $40,000 pool (16 x 32) I told him I'd rather build it myself (using subs) and put in a vinyl liner. Even if I re-lined the pool annually (which isn't likely), it'd take me 20 years or so before I'd spend the amount of money he wanted. He didn't have an answer, which leads me to believe that I am right... Does anyone know of any other reason NOT to use a vinyl liner in the dry heat of the desert? Soil issues, etc...? Thanks in advance for any help...
