  1. Hello, We just had a 24' above ground pool installed last week. Now I need to run electric out to the filter. The pump requires 110v 20amp service. I went to Home Depot to buy all the materials I need. The service rep there told me I could use direct burial cable for this and gave me 12/2 UL-B cable and all of the required components (3 prong circle outlet, box, cover, etc.). I'll need to run about 75' or so from where my electric panel is in the house out to the pool. The service rep told me I could use the pvc pipe to come out of the house/siding and down into the ground, then run the 12/2 cable directly in the ground (18" deep) and then come up into another piece of pvc and into the outlet box. So that all seems pretty straightforward to me. Then he asked me if the pool was grounded. I said probably not, because the pool store rep and the installer never mentioned anything about it. So I started doing some research and found alot of info about bonding the pool and then attaching that to the ground lug on the pump. So I guess my question is - is this required in my situation? There is nothing else electrical anywhere near the pool. There is only a siimple vinyl ladder in the pool. So is this something I need to do and if so what's the best method? Also, does what I plan to do with the electric itself sound correct? Thank for any input, Chris
