  1. First, a little background. When we bought this house 12 years ago, it already had a hot tub built in to a deck behind the house. My wife and I used it and loved it. Had a little bit of service required now and again, but very little work. 6 years ago we had a little baby girl and we stopped using the tub altogether. It sat empty and I powered off the breaker. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to get her going again. I scrubbed it out, filled it with water, and turned on the breaker. Heard some humming coming from the motor. Tried the jets and got nothing. The button pressed real easily, so I thought maybe the airtube had a leak and needed to be replaced. No big deal. The light in the tub would come on. And the air bubbles came on full strength. But something was still humming. I let it run, but after about 10 minutes, the breaker tripped. Whenever I'd reset the breaker, it'd trip again. I tried it again a few days later. Still got the hum, and the light still worked, but neither the jets nor the air bubbles worked. I'm looking for some clues as to how to pin down what the cause is. I'm adept enough to install a new motor, if that's the issue. Right now, I'm looking for ideas. Details...SpaBuilber AP-4 Air Switch Controller, Magnatek BN37 pump.
