  1. Using a screwdriver in the slot at the rear of the motor shaft, both seem to turn equally smooth! Capacitor maybe?
  2. The control panel sets auto to 97deg. Setting higher temp it just reverts back. First 2 jet/speed settings, the pump seems to [hum], but no pumping! Motor is HOT.
  3. Twice now the "substation" circuit breaker has tripped. How would I start to diagnose the problem? about 3 weeks apart. Before the first time, I felt like pump was not running full power. After tripped and was reset, it seemed to be pumping much better. Now its tripped a second time.
  4. Replacing the filter, this time I see a "cartidge" that drops into the middle of the filter. What exactly is this? Its a Watkins 31114 65 ft. I do see some thing similar that is an "ioniser?" on ebay but the shape is different.
  5. The base of the Dynasty Spa is 2 inches lower than the wooden framework. Is it best to support the spa from the base, or from the framework, or should they both be even? Seems the weight of the water would pull the whole thing inward if its just from the frame. The frame WAS previously supported on 2x10's under the deck, with nothing under the bottom of the spa. Could this cause the whole thing to warp?
  6. Can you help name and locate these parts, diverter and air jets. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/8479826014/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/8478735537/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/8478735453/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/8479825830/in/photostream
  7. Is there such a thing? Want to do a repair in a tight area with an "internal pipe coupling". Need to be able to slide whole fitting into one pipe, then slide it back into another. Regular cement will grab too quickly.
  8. Thats the problem. No room. The second 5 port manifold is directly in front with all 5 flex pipes.. If I have to, I can cut that off, but was hoping for an rasier way out.
  9. Replacing a cracked 2" wye where it connects to 2, 5 port flanges. All touching, with no pipe showing. Cut off the wye, but still a piece of 2" pipe remaining inside the flange. Nothing protruding to glue the new wye to. Is there a fitting that will go INSIDE the pipe remnant? Some kind of special repair pipe or coupler?
  10. Repairing my Dynasty spa that froze during winter, 2 years ago. First replaced the control unit, which burned, then cracked pump before I found the PVC flanges had also cracked. With so much invested in repairs already, I dont want to trash the thing. Have replaced the ports, and busy with piping now. The problem is that the drain faucet is not the lowest point of the system. The 5 port flanges are, and never drained. Is it worthwhile to put in 2 new drains? If so, using what? 2" piping at this point. Second, the "diverter" if that is the correct term, for left/right water supply is also cracked around the threads. Not the housing, so is it possible to just change out the mechanics, without disturbing the insulation and piping below? Can someone point me to a new "diverter" of the same type? What foam spray can I use to replace the foam I stripped away? Many thanks. http://www.flickr.co...N02/8097738571/ Name this "diverter" http://www.flickr.co...N02/8097738503/
  11. Trying to replace a 5 port flange, with short pipes. Is there a pvc cement with a long work time? What is work time with regular PVC cement?
  12. 3000 psi, with the red nozzle. All the mess is under the deck where it can be raked up. Saved HOURS of work. Problem started with faulty AP-4 control unit. Drained tub, but now that I look at it, the drain cock is 2" ABOVE the lowest point in the piping system. Pump and 4 manifolds cracked in Winter. Damn DYNASTY who made this thing.
  13. Anybody used a pressure washer to strip foam from PVC pipes etc? After 3 minutes with a 3000 PSI washer, this is what I see. Took 30 minutes with a drywall saw and wire brush, and I was no where as clean!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6234249681/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6234774060/
  14. Can you use these products on the flexpipe too, and what schedule PVC pipe to use?
  15. R values not withstanding, does the FLEXPIPE just weld into the outlet holes, using the same cement as the PVC pipe? There are no clamps used on mine. I can see purple primer though. Also the flexpipe is not clear, but has a "spiral" re-inforcement. http://www.spadepot.com/shop/Manifold-2S-x-5-34-S--P7031C659.aspx Looks like I am climbing under this monster and replacing a few of these. Is the PVC regular plumbing PVC? Sched. 40?
  16. Finally figured out all the leaks. Not jet washers, but cracked pipes. The pump gave out last winter, and even though I opened the drain faucet, some water must have frozen. What do you call this type of connection, with a bunch of outlets, and is it safe to turn this tub on its side? Dont relish climbing underneath, as it took a day to slowly raise it out of the deck, where I can work on it. It weighs a ton. Also is there an easier way to remove the spray on foam, as I have been cutting it with a drywall saw. There is at least 2 more leaks, possibly 3. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6211668180/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6211668084/
  17. Replaced lower 6 gaskets, and fixed leak. Filled a bit more and found another leak. A crack. How would I fix this? From below or above. or both? http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6124053315/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6124594884/
  18. Ordered the tool, and removed 6 jets level with the water after leaking stopped. Has to be one of those 6. Problem is they are TIGHT with silicone, and tool is becoming "rounded" and less effective. 4 were so tight I had to put a steel bar thru the slots on the back of the tool to loosen them. Is there a better way to use the tool, so it doesn't get damaged? Now that I am going back with new gaskets, should I silicone the threads and a "little" on the surfaces of the gaskets? Is there a better product than silicone that wont glue them down so tight, but still seal, in case I need to do this again? I am a confirmed pessimist. Someone has recommended no gasket, but 3M marine sealer, and tighten down, but not all the way, till it squashes out evenly, then clean up. I have cleaned out the threads, and the jets seem to go back easily enough. Another problem is the internal parts are tight too. Am using an adjustable "pump pliers" that opens fairly wide, but still not wide enough to get a grip. The tools "teeth" grip, but handles are too wide to grab. Is there an easier way to remove these? The "scalloped" edge provides very little area to grip. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6109871861/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6109871801/
  19. Left spa unused for about 2 years. Short cash for a new pump. Installed it today, but water leaking badly around jets. Covered with spray foam, so hard to tell which one. Maybe all? Is it possible to change gaskets from inside? If so, what tool could possibly open this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6094211188/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/58982425@N02/6093673619/
