  1. Looking at replacing a 2007 Niagara with a 2017 model. My only concern is the "hers" EcstaSeat. It appears it is meant for someone 5' 7" or 8". Most of my family and friends are 6' plus. Will we actually get any use out of this seat? I know the opposite corner is the "him" version. I have only been able to dry test so far.
  2. Good news !!! Just signed the order. Dealer is Mermaid Pools in Green Bay, WI. They honored the deal that was in place on the 2006 wet floor model, on a 2007 model which was ordered today. Deal included spa, cover, Covermate 1 lifter, steps, delivery and tax. I will provide some feedback when the first soak occurs, 6-8 weeks from now.
  3. All set to order a new Caldera Niagara. I want a cover lift whose mounting brackets won't interfere with the exterior LED lights, and have less than 14" clearance behind the spa. She says Covermate I is the way to go, and says Caldera has an exact copy of it. I looked on their website, and called customer service, and cannot find anything like the Covermate I. This is what I find: PivotPro - needs 24" clearance Prolift - needs 14" clearance (similar to the Covermate I, but looks like brackets will interfere with LED cabinet lights) Prolift II - needs 24" clearance If anyone has knowledge of something else, let me know. Otherwise I will have her order a Covermate I. Thanks
  4. I am waiting for the salesperson to setup a time to do the paperwork. As soon as the T's are crossed and the I's are dotted, I will prop up the dealer. I also got the douchebag's... errrr Jimmy thread, but saw no post. I don't know if I waste more time at work reading his Ted Kosinski like ramblings, or listening to Jim Rome. Anyway, I will post dealer info when deal comes to fruition.
  5. Chas, We have a deal in place. Down payment will be executed in the next couple of days. I will re-post my earlier explanation again. Just to re-iterate, I was not sitting on anything. The dealer was told about the problem with the cover lifter on the Tuesday following our wet test. I was always told they were checking on a solution. I finally posted the topic on this forum, and was told about the Covermate III. I forwarded this info to the dealer, which they still checked on for another week. When inquiring about it, I was told they did not want to buy directly from Leisure Systems, and were looking for another option. This is what resulted in my supposed "delayed" buying decision. I just wanted to clear this point up Spavirgin
  6. Thanks..... Did you get the Geneva yet? Can't wait to lose my virginity to the mighty Niagara !!!
  7. ***************************************************************************************** Dealer just contacted me. They will honor existing agreement. 07 Niagara (my choice of colors), cover, Covermate III lifter, steps, chems, GFCI box, shipping and delivery. I am stopping this week to pick colors and give them a deposit. Hopefully this will end up better than it started. Does anyone know the actual MSRP of an 07 Niagara? I have only been dealing with the 06 models. Thanks

  9. The freight quote was mentioned at 400 - 500. That is not really the point. If the dealer had such a problem handling basic interoffice communication (which is what really failed), I am wondering what will happen when I have my first service problem or concern. It really is more reflective on the dealer, than any problem with Caldera. I also am involved in a sales and service oriented field, and have to stand by salesman promises, either written or verbal. As we all know word of mouth can be the best and worst advertising available. Whether or not anyone else thinks this is a steal is irrelevant. It was a working agreement between myself and the dealer, which had not yet reached the contractual stage, through the communication problems of the dealer staff. At this point I am sticking to my guns, and have let the dealer know that. If they can honor their previous commitment, I will be more than happy to put this behind us, and hopefully be a proud customer of theirs.
  10. The package price aggreed to was 6900, including the Caldera branded lifter. My last email was to confirm that they would include the Covermate in the aggreed-to price. That email went unanswered until Friday, when they informed me it was sold to someone else
  11. Update as of 5/4/2007 Below is the email I sent to Caldera and the local dealer. Needless to say I was quite pissed off..... This is a dealer complaint. I had agreed to buy a 2006 Niagara from my local dealer. The only sticking point was the cover lift. I needed something with a very small clearance. The dealer agreed to purchase a Covermate III from another distributor. The last correspondence I had was that they had ordered it, and I assumed we were all set. They never asked for a down payment at all. That was Tuesday afternoon. I have been trying to contact them since then. Today I finally received an email informing me that another salesman sold the spa this morning. They did not even call me to let me know this. I received an email late this afternoon informing me of this. In the email they offered to order another one, as long as I pay the freight. I let them know this was unsatisfactory. I feel they dropped the ball, and if they/Caldera want me as a valued customer, I want the 2007 Niagara with at least the same deal that was in place on the 2006. My family really likes the Niagara, but this has left a sour taste in my mouth. If the next closest dealer was not 100 miles away, I would deal with them. Let me know what assistance you can be, or I will be forced to take my business elsewhere.
  12. I am about to pop for a Caldera Niagara. Space behind the spa is limited. It was suggested on this forum that a Covermate III lifter would be the way to go. Dealer ordered one, but in looking at pictures of the lifter and the spa, it seems as though the external Spa Glo lighting on the cabinet may interfere with the mounting brackets. If anyone is familiar with these products, could they confirm/deny if I am going to have a problem. Thanks
  13. My local Caldera dealer does not want to become a Covermate dealer for some reason. (I am assuming they do not want to have to stock them). They are looking for a distributor where they can buy lifts as they need them, but not at retail. Can anyone help them out? Thanks
  14. I wet tested a Chelsee about a month ago. Nice tub, but I personnally did not think it was deep enough. List price here in Wisconsin was 6700.00, same setup as you mentioned. I actually just purchased a Caldera Niagara, which fit our needs a little better. Good luck with you decision.
  15. I am very close to committing to a 2006 Caldera Niagara. Room behind the spa is at a premium. I am looking for the cover lifter that will need the least amount of space to operate between the spa and the house. Receptionist at my Caldera dealer said about 2', but was not positive. Any all suggestions appreciated.
  16. Trigger, Did you get you Niagara yet? 2006 or 2007? If so, how do you like it?
  17. I had a chance to stop at my local Master Spa dealer yesterday. When discussing Masters insulation methods, he mentioned something I had not heard before. "It is a well known fact that full foam spas lose 50% of their R-value in the first 5 years." Is this fact, fiction, or BS?
  18. The kids (12 & 14) and I wet tested it tonight, and we all liked it alot. Was not quite ready to make this commitment yet. Ordered a new boat a couple of weeks ago. Told the dealer I would mull it over this weekend, and get back to them Monday. Thanks for any/all responses.
  19. When did you stop? The woman I talked to was very knowledgable, and had worked at Pool Works for a number of years also.
  20. Wet testing tomorrow night. Will let you know how we like it!!
  21. My only real concern is the energy costs of this tub versus the others I have been looking at. Not sure how 500 gallons versus 300-350 will affect that. Thanks
  22. 6900.00 is correct. Dealer said normal retail was 8995.00. Includes steps, new cover, cover lifter, startup chems, delivery.
  23. My family and I have been looking for our first tub for about 6 weeks now. In no particular order, these are the models we have looked at so far. Tiger River Caspian D1 Sojourn Beachcomber 580 Sundance Chelsee Marquis (model escapes me) Caldera Niagara The local MasterSpa dealer is a joke, so we are not considering them. The local Arctic dealer failed, and the next closest is 120 miles away, so that is not really an option. Today I stopped at the Caldera dealer in Green Bay, and liked what I saw, and felt confident with the staff. They have a wet 2006 Niagara floor model with everything included for 6900.00, before any haggling. We hope to hop in it yet this week. We wet tested the Sundance last week, and I must say I was a bit disappointed, although the local dealer has a great reputation. I would say we have it narrowed down to three, contingent upon wet testing. Tiger River Caspian Beachcomber 580 Caldera Niagara Looking for any rational opinions on pro/cons of these three. Thanks
