  1. Seems to me as if someone has little too much time on their hands.
  2. Or choose to spend money on the best regardless whether or not it is affordable. Lets face it, to some people a spa is much more important (ie those who need it for therapy) than it is for others(those of us who just wanna relax on occasion) regardless of imcome. I just chose to spend my money for other things, and I am perfectly capable of caring for the hot tub myself. I completely understand that my hot tub is not as great as one that I could have bought for $12,000, but it works when I want it do, and feels good when I get in it, and thats all I care about. I can take my $8000 and spend it on something else, or buy two more of these when this one goes bad.
  3. No, I would say that they do not count because the first guy has only seen one and made a decision without trying it or wet testing it which all you insiders say is the untimate test, and the others are just reported by you. Maybe the reason no one is one here complaining about them is that they are better spas than you wish to acknowledge. The other problem I have is that there are so many people with axes to grind on here, you never know what angle someone is coming from. I find it hard to believe that someone looking to purchase a spa would only find one that was a big enough piece of crap to take the time to knock it. What about all the other pieces of crap he ran into? What makes me believe he has an ax to grind is the statement that everything they sell in the entire store is also crap. Sounds like someone with a gripe against Costco.
  4. I find it amusing that the only people that knock the costco spa on here are the people in competition with them or people who don't own one. Not one negetive comment in this entire forum that I could find from people who actually own one. Odd don't you think.
  5. Actually my costco spa leaked water everywhere too when it was delivered. Our local Costco got in a shipment of 10 last week and the lady that always checks us out said that they never even made it through the day. She felt that if they could get 100 of them they would be gone in no time, and we life in a fairly small city.
  6. All I can tell you is that I have a costco spa, and I have not regretted it for one minute. There are plenty of "industry folk" on here that will be happy to tell you that if you buy a costco spa, there is something wrong with you and obviously you don't see things too clearly. I chaulked it up to fear. I bought the one directly from the store.
  7. Why the extreme need to put words in my mouth. I think the post that you quoted was yalking about Costco's return policy and has nothing to do with the quality of anyones tub.
  8. No, but the spa starts out being less than half price, so a few associated cost would be reasonable to expected for such a good return policy. What I see here is fear from the dealers. Trash talk all you want, but people who have dealt with Costco know that they have the best return policy in the business and no hot tub dealer can even come close to promising customers what Costco does. I used to own a business that was put out of business by the mass merchants, and believe me, I know what fear is as far is that is concerned, but eventually they won out, as they almost always do.
  9. At $3500 if my Costco spa completely dies after 5 years, I can go get another one, and I will have a brand new spa and will still have spent less than those who paid $10,000 up front and after 5 years have a 5 year old spa. Sorry to all those dealers who disagree, but I like my chances.
  10. As a matter of fact I have not only seen these spas I have worked on them. I hope for your sake that you continue to have good success with your spa. You were right when you stated these spas arent for everyone. If you want a spa for a cheap price and you dont plan on owning the spa for more than a couple of years then go for it. Just dont buy it with the expectation that its going to operate or compare to one of the better built spas on the market. Amusing and totally unexpected response.
  11. Why knock on wood? At the prices some of you guys are talking about, I can afford to run it until it dies, buy another one, and still come out ahead.
  12. I agree with BobMack. Our new costco spa has given us no problems what so ever. I am sure there are better spas out there, but for the money, this is an excellent bargain.
  13. There are two products, one is baquacil and the other baquaspa. Can anyone explain the difference to me as one is cheaper than the other.
  14. The musty smell is easily overcome by cleaning it on occasion.
  15. I cant answer that for you as I have only ever used Baquaspa. All I can tell you is that my wife has used both clorine and baqua, and she raves over the Baqua and the lack of odor.
  16. I also started with Baquaspa, and after learning the whole process, have enjoyed it. I have an ozonator that is not shut off. It doesn't really seem to be a problem at all.
  17. It seems as though my current supplier must be seeing me coming as I am pay $20 for test strips and more for everything else too. I guess maybe I should check around. Thanks for the help. BTW, it's yet ANOTHER warmish weekend day in a New England winter! Amazing! Thermometer reads 59F. I just came in from stacking firewood in my shirtsleeves! San Diego (almost) has NOTHING on us! ;-) And they say global warming is a bad thing.
  18. We just set up our tub and started using baquaspa from the start. So far we have enjoyed it with few problems, but cost wise it seems alittle more expensive than some. It this truth or just perception? Also, are there places on the internet that anyone has purchased baquaspa from with good results, and did you save any money?
  19. Thanks for taking the time to answer. My numbers only go to 60, and down to one if I press and hold the pump 1 button. I guess that means I cannot run it less than 60 minutes 1 time a day.
  20. I have no problem with the circulation pump. It also has a preprogramed deal that turns the spa on automatically and runs it full blast for a minimum of one hour a day. That is what I am trying to deactivate. Our Electric bill was $200, which does not sound too bad, except for the fact that the house is heated with gas, cooking is gas, and the water heater is gas. That was an additional $300.
  21. The spa is made by Hydro spa out of Florida . They carry all parts as it is a spa that they carry but have slightly altered it with additional features for costco. I did have a cracked panel on the spa at time of purchase, and although they sent me the wrong panel twice, they have not presented any problems at all and I expect the correct panel to be here any day. I love the spa. It has many features of a more expensive model. As for the energy costs, I really have no way of judging as this is the first North Carolina winter in our new house, and we have no history by which to compare. Our gas bill was also very high, which would have nothing to do with the spa, so I guess it is a wait and see situation. I noticed the last time that I was at costco that they have slightly altered the cpa to include 5 more jets and added a CD controller where it can be reached from inside the spa, one of my only complaints about the one that we have. They also raised the price $500 over the $3400 that we paid. Lifes full of its little tradeoffs I suppose.
  22. Sorry, its the elite platinum that they sell at costco. I love the tub, but we were kinda shocked at the energy bill we got after the first month of operation. Looking for ways to cut back a bit.
