  1. Watkins manufacturing makes "Great" spas. They are an industry leader! That is a FACT! Like it or not.

Did you ever think about how it compares to other brands? That price is not justified in anyway. If you are getting that sort of money for that spa, you are ripping off people, maybe not on purpose, but by common sense and a survey of the market, you too can figure that out

Looks like you don't have any common sense!!!!! I have never bad mouthed my competiton to sell my views.

Ilet the customer decide what they want based on what i know of my tubs and I also sell calspas as a cheaper model for those who want to spend less. If I amselling an Aspire at $9000.00 to $10,000.00 it's because it is worth and not because I pushed it on them. My customers come back because I'm the least pushy and get discouraged by the other dealers in my town.

It is about value, and you don't really believe that do you?

I know watkins has a good quality tub. I looked at a lot of manufacturers before making my decision with the help of a service guy with 35 years experience.

I give my customers websites and forums to research before buying if they want.

So don't try to play Mr know it all with me, I don't like fake peoples opinions being pushed on me. I prefer people who can simply tell the truth about what they are being asked, stick to the questions and shut the hell up about what other garbage you may your self beleive.

  2. The only shimming recomended by the good spa manufactures is to shim on the edge as long as the footwell is fully supported. This happens when the concrete is crowned in the middle or has dips along the perimeter of the spa.

If the concrete has extreme slope beyond 1 to 2 inches you need to build a sub-platform on level to put it on.

By the way Jim, What Spas do you reccomend to consumers?

Hi everyone, I'm glad some one mentioned this. We sat a Spa down on a customers slab and could see a slight gap in the front. We asked someone to go out and take a look. I was told because it was a solid flat foundation supporting the middle it was ok! They had a slight dip in the cement in the front so they stuck some wood in the gap in the front and left it.

    Is this right?

  3. Hot Springs is going to last a very very long time, So if you were to purchase a hot tub without warranty, you would definitely want a good quality Hot tub like Hot Springs. I think that's a good price for a 2 year old Hot Spring which by the way does retail between 8000.00 and 10000.00

Do you have Caldera, or sundance they also have god quality tubs with bells and whistles and good warranty.

  4. I sell CAldera Aspire for $9500.00 thank you very much JIM!!!!!! and they are worth it !!!!!!

I think that is a good price with a coverlifter and delivery. It has ozone system, stereo, LED lighting waterfall, seats seven people and has full warranty as follows

10 year shell and surface, 5 year heater & parts,etc.......... Costco has nothing to offer.

Hot Springs is the top line of tubs for Watkins (who makes Caldera too)made by the same manufacturer with the same quality.

I sell Caldera and I'm an honest person, not some sleezy salesperson making up a presentation so don't slander sales people who enjoy their work and help their customers find something to be proud of!!!!!!!!!!

I,ve sold the aspire to some family so was i trying to be slick!!!!!

  5. [Love the Caldera Aspire. very nice looking tub, great exterior lighting as well as interior, also has a attractive water fall.which also has lighting, most importantly it is a well made tub with a good warranty.waterproof stereos and speakers with surround. and dual controls. It also has a good Ozone system and is a energy pro Hot Tub. Good luck!

  6. [

Is Jim correct regarding the crack repair procedure on the HS tub? That sounds like it could be a serious disadvantage down the road. . .

Jim has a history of knocking down his competition there are alot of good hot tub copanies around.

Hot Springs is one of the industries best. I have not heard of any shell problems. All manufacturers will have some service calls, but do they all have a good warranty to back it up?

  7. I know of some of the reputable dealers with good customer service, warranty, non-wood siding, good parts nice look, lock down covers, and great reputation.

Hot Springs, Caldera, sundance, Bullfrog, Dimension 1, Dynasty.

Caldera Spas has a nice look, great warranty, reputable dealers, lock down insulated covers, An energy pro circulation pump and heating system, ozone systems to save you on chemicals, easy to use digital controls and lots more. wwwcalderaspas.com. Good Luck!

  8. Any suggestions on what chemicals to use. Getting ready to get a Caldera and I know the salesman is going to try to sell me their chemicals, but should I and could I get everything I need online for less $$$

What do I need to buy? I don't know nothin' about nothin'!!!! HELP!

Are you getting a ozone system? If so You can buy chemical free shock, and some bromine tablets. If not you can go anywhere and get a start up kit and some shock or chlorine, but most Caldera dealers will sell the same chemicals you'd be getting from a nother place.

  9. I am interested in the Martinique and there are no Caldera dealers in my town. I have found 5 dealers but all of them are in the 200-250 mile range. I am thinking of purchasing the Martinique but I talked to the manufacture and they told me that the dealer is responsible for any warranty work on the tub. Talking to the dealers and they are telling me it is too far to make a service run. Do people buy from out of area dealers often and what do you do about service?

    Second question:

One of the dealers that I talked to is closing his doors and is making me a killer offer, is this a wise choice? I feel like I will have no support at all if I go this route, I can atleast call and get support over the phone with a dealer 250 miles away.

I think the Martinique is a great Spa weel made and will not be giving you maintenance nightmares. So If your getting a great deal and are looking for a well made Spa with a good warranty go for it. There should be service guys in your area that can help you fix your spa and find out how to get the parts and labour paid for. A good freind of mine called around found a spa service guy who was familiar with the tub and got him to call explain the problem, got the part shipped and the warranty taken care of. Watkins is the manufacturer for the caldera martinique. You can call a tech at the company and get all the information you need 1-800-669-1881 they are located in San Diego. Good luck!

  10. My wife and I have been researching hot tubs for a couple of months now. I really liked the D-1 Californian, we went to the local dealer and all he had to wet test was a Chairman II, the salesman said that it is very simular to the Californian. We wet tested the Chairman II and my wife nearly drowned. She is only 5'4" and she did not fit into any of the seats. If I am going to spend this kind of money I don't want to use booster seats. My question is does anyone have any advice on hot tubs that has seating that will comfortably seat a shorter person? We are also looking at the Caldera Martinique, and the Jacuzzi 355. The dealers here look at you like you are crazy when you tell them you want to wet test, the damn things are selling faster than they can get them in so they don't seem to be too worried about it.

I think the caldera Martinique will fit her perfectly, nice jets and contoured seating in that tub, the lounger is also a little smaller as the tub is only 34" high. Good luck

  11. I seem to be having a very difficult time finding the right spa for myself. I am looking for a spa for myself that is very comfortable with gentle whirpool action. I'm not interested in powerful jets as they seem to push me out of my position and I need to use my muscles to hold on to the seat! Defeats the whole purpose of the relaxation.

I have tried a couple of spas (but they neck pillows are too high causing my head to bend forward, etc. I suffer from fibromyalgia and need this spa for a good therapeudic soak.

    Any ideas?

Do you have a Caldera Spa Dealer nearby? They have massaging jets, contoured seats and diverter valves to help you control the pressure to the jets to make you comortable. You'll find anything from a 2 person up to 7 person spa.

  12. I am the one who purchased a 2001 Hotsprings Sovereign Classic that was a 110V. I have an electrician who is doing the 220V conversion and running the wiring for me. Here's my question - I went to an authorized Hotsprings dealer and purchased the 20/30 split breaker subpanel. This may be a dumb question, but is this the box that goes about 10 feet from the hot tub? Or, is this a box that goes inside the hottub cabinet? My father has a hottub and I know that at the end of his conduit, there is a breaker box, and from there the hottub wiring is connected. Is this THAT box?

Is this subpanel that box, or is this something entirely different? I know wires need to be jumped (electrician is doing that), but I just want to know about this box. Thanks in advance!

    THANKS!

    Jackie

The box you were given is a GFCI subpanel which has to be between 5 to 10 feet away from you Spa. You run your wiring from your main panel to this box then to your spa (in the front compartment of your spa will be a different box which is your contrl panel)

I hope this helps, good luck

  13. My wife and I have narrowed down our spa search to Caldera - primarily from what I've read here and a very reputable dealer being just down the road from where we live. We made an offer on what we thought was a 2005 leftover Aspire with a sound system. When I went in to pay a deposit to hold the spa until our patio can be constructed, I noticed that the spa did not have an auxilary control panel like the 2005 and 2006 catalogue showed the unit having as standard. Everything else seems to be the same. I asked if this could be a 2004. The manager (very nice/very helpful/no pressure/no bad mouthing competition) said she didn't think so but would check. Several hours later she called and said that it was in fact a 2004 model. I asked what kind of discount she could offer up on the tub. She said make her an offer. I had made an offer which was accepted of $6395 including wood steps and a cover lifter when I believed I was getting a 2005 tub. Assuming we get comfotable with the fact that there is not an auxillary control panel (seems like a cool feature to me - to be able to adjust jets from both sides of the tub) would I be crazy to buy a 2004 model? To you sales people out there, how much of a discount should I expect? Are there any watchouts to buying a tub that has been sitting on a sales floor since December 2004? The tub has some very fine scratches on the seats that the manager told me would rub out before I took delivery. I doubt you could see them once there was water in the tub. I know it has had water in it before as there is some down in the volcano jet. I would definitely want a wet test given the age of the tub. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I don't think there's going to be a problem with the tub, we have a caldera we held onto longer than we should have, when we were ready to sell that particular one people were ordering different spas or colors, so it got left on the floor.

The warranty will begin the date of delivery so if you were to have any problems, the dealer will take care of it. You can ask them to have it running for you for a wet test so you can make sure everything works ok.

That price sound like a great deal to me for an Aspire.

Ask the dealer if it was used before and where. We used some of our tubs at shows etc... but haven't had any complaints from the customers who bought them. We did scratch one but we buffed it out a little, and discounted it.

Good luck what ever you choose, if you want a newer tub, don't rush into buying this one.

  14. We are in the process of shopping for the huttub and the dealer offered us Caldera Geneva (still with no chrome jets, so possibly a 2005 model?) floor model for $7,200.

DO you think it's a good price? fair price? Person is taking advantage of us?

    Thanks for your responses,

    Lana

excellent price for a Geneva even if it's a floor model. I sold my floor model for $8100. There's doesn't have to be something wrong. but you can ask the dealer and if so the waranty will cover it, and yes the Geneva with out chrome jets is a 2005 so just like us they will want to display a new 2006.

  15. Now you can't find a brochure, I know, draw them a picture.

I know Caldera Spas has a great warranty and it is in their brochures. They have alot less problems than a cheaper spa and I haven't had anything break yet that isn't covered.

  16. Soon, I hope. Gotta get it installed, then build a privacy fence/pergola around it. Have to keep the prying eyes of the neighbors out :-). The projects never seem to end.

All Spa dealers will have delays from time to time, just part of doing business? Watkins (which is the manufacturer of Hot Springs) usually is only 2- 3 weeks for delivery, but this a very busy time with all the spas being sold right now and all the dealers are doing out door shows etc...Try to be patient it'll be worth it.

  17. Hello!

My opinion is to ignore all of these nay-sayers and buy the Costco one that is made by Watkins. Report back after a few weeks, months, etc. and let us know how it went.

As a buyer, I'd be interested in knowing if you found a high-quality, low-priced product.

Go for it. The worst thing that could happen would be you will be out a few hours of effort in installing and removing the spa.

I would definitely buy a watkins spa from a dealer. A dealer will gives you service with that warranty which means they order the parts and repair any problems you may have. . You get it delivered, not many people want to take a spa home themself. you get all the extras like chemicals, cover, GFCI subpanel etc... and yes you can pick from several different colors.

Everyone - thanks for all the great information. I can get any of the fitst 3 for about the same price so it is decision time. All come with delivery, cover, lift, steps, start-up chemicals, etc. What would you do?

    1. Highlife by Hotspring from Costco. Hotspring quality with Costo lifetime satisfaction warranty. Unknown Question is the cost to convert to 220. Warranty is only 1 year, but service comes from local dealer.

    2. Tiger River Bengal from local dealer. Quality spa from Watkins that makes Hotsprings. Local dealer support and 5 year warranty.

    3. Caldera Martinique from a different local dealer. Quality spa from Watkins that makes Hotsprings. Local dealer support and 5 year warranty. 2 pumps (will I notice?)

    4. Pay about $500 additional and get a Hotspring Prodigy. Smaller spa, more money, possibly better?

    Suggestions?

I reccomend the Caldera Martinique. I like the quality and seating in that spa

  18. Is there a Caldera Dealer near you? if so check out the Utopia Tahitian it has everything but the stereo and the jets feel great. if you want more room try the Geneva or Niagra all 3 have a great ozone system and energy pro heating sys/ cir pump. lots of massaging jets, LED lighting, waterfall, and a full warranty. There are alot of good spas out there hope you find what you are looking for. good luck!
