  1. Then why did Clay say that you PM'd him (and many others I'm sure) to send him toward your website. To educate him, LOL?? Let's face it, you're trying to steer him to your website to sell him one of your rebrands. PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Be honest!

SpaTech I dont believe he heard your question. YOU HAVE TO YELL!

Also realizing he now has NOTHiNG to lose by slandering Hot Spring he's getting bold enough to make Quotes on conversations that dont exist.

Explain to me exactly how it is 325 sq feet of filter in a small package. The last time is measured a filter it was actually the size they said. The filter would have to be about 32.5 feet long by 10 feet wide.

If that is the case that they filter so well, then what is the filter on the circ pump? It is also a Teerex?

WOW!! and who knows nothing about spas?? I'm blond and I understand it! (well grey)

  2. Oh he is in violation because he runs a competing web forum. I guess they don’t error on the side of caution. I guess they have a policy of, if you advertise with us you will not be banned.

In all fairness to this forum rest assured that the mods are not in any bound to the rule of "if you advertise here you stay here" as one of our very close friends may be a mod here soon!

  3. :( MAN these guys do not care about there customers i bougt my hydro spa in june of 2004 by december my jets tarted falling out by sept 2005 most of them where falling out !! THIS IS NOT my first hot tub i never had this problem before useing bromine when i called hydro spa they told me it was not under the warrenty that the chemicals where to blame WHAT A COPOUT TO COVER UP A CHEAP PRODUCT THESE JETS SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PRODUCED!!!! NOW THE JETS ARE 12.00 EACH ABOUT 200.00 YEAR JETS THATS WHAT I FIGURE , I AM NOT THE ONLY GUY WITH THIS PROBLEM THEY NEED TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND CHANGE THERE JETS AND STOP TELLING PEOPLE THAT ITS LIKE CHANGING THE WIPERS ON YOUR CAR , MAINTANCE THATS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE Said !!!!!!!!!!! Want to buy a Spa cheap here it is !!!!1

In all fairness to Hydro Spa when I was selling "another brand of spa" I have seen first hand what the adveres effects of bromine and poor water conditions can cause to the white plastic on the backs of the jets. The bromine if not used correctly will totally disinegrate the entire back assembly of the jets. Solution :maintain water correctly! Of course the answer is always "I maintained it correctly" my response is and had to be "no ya didn't" Keep in mind that many companies use the same jets in their spas with the same outcome :poor water chemistry = disinegrated jets! Good Luck! B)

  4. LOL!!!! Something TOLD me this was a fun loving crowd, please tell your wife, I meant NO disrespect WHATSOEVER, and could NEVER hope to compete! She's gorgeous!.....You better watch out SpaMan, I think some of the other guys here might fight ya for her!

LOL! She knows you meant no disrespect, everyone needs hugs now and then! And dont worry I carry a Berretta of my own! And thank you for your compliments towards her! I tell everyone I must be one hell of a salesman! B)

I think Dr.Spa keeps a pic of her on his screensaver as he has pics from last season! LOL see ya next month Doc and yes shes coming too!

  5. Come on Spa Man...the more the merrier and he doesn't have a costume or cape so what are you worried about? :P

    IPB Image

    IPB Image

    Veronica,

Hey good news!!! My wife said she agrees the more the merrier, except she then followed it up by saying she was bringing Mr.Bennelli along and for me not to forget her recent marksman scores at the range and that she has recently finished snyper training! All I could say is GULP!!!!!!! LOL

  6. I have been in this biz for two decades, and I have told thousands of folks this: the numbers on the brochure mean nothing. Nothing.

Wet testing is the only reliable way to see if the spa you are considering will provide the massage action you are looking for. If you can't or won't get into a spa in a store, try a friend's tub, or at the very least put your hand and arm in a hot, running tub similar to the one you are looking at.

Different makers use different numbers. Different pumps move more water than others. Different plumbing schemes allow more or less water to move, and different jets provide different feel for the same amount of water moving through them.

Friends don't let friends shop by HP numbers on a brochure or web site.

If you can't see the tub running, be careful.

I agree with Chas also the only way to know is to feel the jets that is all that is important numbers mean absoluetely nothing! every manufacturers plumbing is different with loss and gains of power in different ways so FEEL THE JETS! simple isnt it?

And Chas if you so choose you will be in this industry another 2 decades!! Others may not fare so well!! B)

  7. DR....I didn't take issue specifically with your Artic Spas stats, another member did under two different topics. I didn't suggest that you would confirm the stats you got from your secondary source, you did. If you simply go to the BBB.org site versus the local sites you offered, and do a company check it lists all possible matches for anything that comes close to the name you type in, in their entire NATIONAL network and then you may have to dig a little deeper as I have to verify and confirm history, no need even jump around to the local office sites because thay are networked.

....and I did not file a complaint with BBB for a refund, they actually give you an option of what you want or need. I specifically stated it was FOR THEIR INFORMATION only. I have finally been promised a refund and I'm happy to be put in their "resolved" stats now that they have removed the tub. Again, my only intention was to accurately inform new would-be consumers.

You listed every major brand and stats purporting to be from the BBB, but failed to mention that out of every brand listed, they are ALL in good standing and Hydro Spa is listed as NOT in good standing. This is an irreffutable fact given at least my reading of the primary source, but hey what do I know about reading statistics?

What may I do to get the 2 of you to hug??

  8. I doubt you really have to make that decision in 48 hrs and I'd even let them know you don't appreciate the hard sell. Wet testing is important. It is also best to wet test a couple other brands so that you have a basis for comparison. BTW, if you do compare to other brands make sure you know whethr you're dealing with continuos HP or Brake HP as those 6hp pumps are BHP whereas most dealers quote the continuous HP (which is much more relevant, the dealers can explain).

Please appreciate that its not a hard sell as it is a matter of ordering the spas all at once, sure you can wait 'til the dealer gets ready to complete another order and the price will be at or above the $8995 we cannot order these spas one at a time and keep prices down. I totally agree with spatech on the bhp vs continuous hp, however what is important is the power from the jetsit is incredible that is what is important not the numbers that are written the pumps. I am not a fan what so ever of the bhp being touted. Because theres no need for it the power and therapy speaks for itself.

  9. Wow, you guys are hard core! I think even DRSPA would be willing to, or HAS actually conceded that he did not confirm the stats against the major brands he listed as being accurate as he took them from a secondary source, he offered to contact that source to confirm the stats, will I get "banned" if I ask if that was done? It's just as easy to do so by going to the BBB.org site.

DRSPA'S and others' point about the weight to give BBB stats is well taken, but anybody see mine about being able to rely on what has been printed as true??? If it's not true, than isn't this pretty misleading to consumers who come here to gather useful information before making a purchase?....and then instead of taking two minutes of your own time just to look and perhaps clarify something, you would rather NOT look, and gang up the consumer until you feel righteous enough for a group hug?

What is wrong with holding dealers and people in the spa business to the notion of professional integrity? I don't get it? You're the experts....if someone is posting statistics about consumer complaints logged in and recorded by an entity that hold's themselves out as a guardian of professional integrity (i.e. the BBB), shouldn't they be accurate? ESPECIALLY, given the small size of your market?

No one has bothered to just look and see that they are not accurate except Conan about Artic Spas complaints? I don't get it.....?

    Veronica,

For one hon heres a hug for you ((((((huggie squeezie))))))) today I promise to check out the information, after doing so, lets get to the point as your attack on the Doc has caught us off guard and I am sure you would defend your true friends as we do Doc. His track record here is impecable, so please dont feel anyones ganging up on you, lets calmly get to the reason we are all here. How Veronica can we help you with your problem or concerns and make you a happy person again???

  10. Nope, not me........ or wasn't me... or isn't me....... do you have a link to it? I'd be interested in reading it.

Oh Doc, "done with this" now???? (That's a shame, and the exact same language Mark from Hydro Spa used in his e-mail to me two nights ago! Go figure!....)

When things are JUST getting interesting about your intentions and identity and your inability to tell the truth!? When you are made to answer for the BOLD FACED & ACTIONABLE MISREPRESENTATIONS ABOVE??? This is bad for your business reputation and the businesses you have slandered here. (i.e. lied about to the detriment of their reputation)... Dr. Spa! If I read what you posted here now, and then took two mere seconds to check your facts on BBB.org, I would NEVER buy anything associated with you AND if I were one of the big and GREAT guys like Artic, Hot Springs, Jacuzzi...etc....I would shut you down and sue you right now for your self serving misrepresentations!!! (Unless you have some double secret access to a different BBB.org site stats than the rest of us.... FOR SHAME! You should check your stats, against the ACTUAL BBB site or disclaim them NOW/ASAP if you can't confirm them in good faith!:

    e.g.

THE PROOF YOU ARE A LIAR WHO SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL:

    RE: The BBB

Wow, who would you suggest we trust for consumer protection information Dr. Spa? You? or the BBB? (you know the ACTUAL stats from the web-site, NOT the ones you pulled from some disgusting bacteria-filled swamp of lies you seem to be intent on selling here, while omitting the important stuff, i.e. results of corporate RESPONSE???)

....or is there a more trustworthy source we can turn to, without a proprietary interest in a specialized industry that is still small enough to hold vendors and manufacturers to their word!? As a final note to what Dr. Spa is "done with"....

Be sure to look at the RESULTS of the BBB complaints filed!

According to the BBB.org web site:]

Given at least, a more in depth, clearer reading of the site stats:

    SINCE of MAY OF 2003

ARTIC (Spas, Pools & Stoves of Portland Oregon) - 1 complaint = resolved

HOT SPRINGS - ALL LISTINGS (approximately 2-5 complaints in 36 months ALL RESOLVED

COLEMAN SPAS (MAAX) - 1 complaint, in good standing RESOLVED

Master Spas - of all listings of potential sub cos. between 2 - 7 complaints all resolved or addressed and in good standing.

Jacuzzi - 32-to 33 complaints total of all sales (that could include tubs in in the bathroom????) - ALL RESOLVED & in GOOD STANDING WITH THE BBB!

Dynasty - 10 complaints - RESOLVED, CLOSED or UNPURSUABLE

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

COMPARED TO HYDRO SPAs (your favorite friend DRSPA for some ...increasingly CLEAR reason...that we will get to the bottom to) - in Clearwater FL, 10 complaints, 2 UNRESOLVED,

THE ONLY BBB UNSATISFACTORY RECORD LISTING out of all DRSPAS suggested service" faux pas" list...

BUT HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH DRSPA!!! Because of you, upon closer inspection of the BBB site, I finally found what might be a solid lead on the Nexus between a CLASS ACTION SUIT filed against SUNDAZE - a Hydro Spa subsidiary??? and the corporate veil they might have been hiding under! Good show! You're on the "sludge list" now Doc, in my book....can't wait to figure out what motivated such actionable misrepresentations on your part, it won't take long, and I think it might effect your bottom line....call me crazy, but I hope it was worth it!!!!! .

At this point, besides some insulting, passive, crap about "not meaning to offend"....don't you think you should step up and appologize before things get ugly?....(but you do what you think is best and we'll all stay tuned and watch how things turn out for you Champ!!!)

    --------------------

If you can't sell it on ebay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

Veronica please don't take this the wrong way,

So you believe Doc to be affiliated with hydro spas???? Thats a definate NO,As he said he is and has always been here to add balance and we all appreciate his input on every subject. As far as your story about Hydro Spa and your dealings with them. You have made your point!!! We got it!! Now go buy a spa and simply get on with your life, No offense Veronica but this has gone on long enough. Dont ya think? BTW I appreciate you sending people for advice I am always glad to help out where I can.

  11. That type of pressure selling is common among the Cal Spa dealers I have worked with over the years.

If you like the spa and the price, go for it. But if you want to take longer to make up your mind, I would certainly suggest looking at other brands and perhaps wet testing. If you call the Cal spa dealer and ask for an extension, you should be able to get one - if he can "Swing" the price today, he can do it again. If not, shop elsewhere.

Ok I give up ! You either live in Colorado, Minnesota or Las Vegas as thats the only markets that are able to order the "Select" series the price on that spa is very good and the prupose on the price is because we buy the slelects in volume they are all the same color they all have the exact same specs and the more we buy the better the price from the factory so obviously your dealer is placing a large order on selects at the end of that 48 hours. Look me up if you have any more questions. And yes Chas is right that price may come around when the dealer is ready to make another large order on specs. The price at $8995 is far lower than our regular sales price. So if you like it buy it if not hold out for the right spa for you, but that is by far our best performing hottub.

  12. Has there been any discussion on the Outback Spas? They look exactly like the Hydro Spas. I saw something about the jets coming out on the Hydro spas and wanted to know if that is a big concern. And if there is a way to avoid it.

YES outback spas another small company with a store in Phoenix and if you look at the spas you will see that they are in a class of their own I recognise the molds as U.S tooling molds , but take a look at the warranties and the quality of construction including the cabinets, however they do seem to have a grasp as to what they are worth as the are less expensive than most brands. I would save my money and go with one of the big players in the industry. I had a customer in Phoenix that had baught the store owners house there and the spa was left with a 1 yr warranty and the board went out and the tech took the pack out and sent it back to the manufacturer of the board for repairs all the while the customer had to wait for this repair to take place before having his tub repaired. this is known as a "pass thru warranty" and is not my idea of customer service. Good luck!

  13. ummmmmmmmm, help me out here. I'm in violation simply for having a forum that could be considered competing?

HOLLY COW!. I just found the guidelines, and you're RIGHT! Odd the "owners" of this board never mentioned it to me in the numerous phone calls/emails I've had with them in the past few months, or even years. All I ever got from them was their thanks for my years of contribution on their forum(s).

I have however not left "signatures, URLs or text including blatant sales messages, solicitations, advertisements, derogatory comments about members, or self-promotion of any form encouraging members to visit a particular website or store". But then I'm pretty good about with EVERY forum I frequent (notice I said "pretty". when directly asked, I usually don't have a problem telling).

I have listed my web site in my personal info under "Home Page", but if the moderators would like it removed I'm happy to oblige. My signature is but an "inside" personal joke having nothing to do with the hot tubs industry (although spas are sold on eBay).

DOC, Many of us on this forum are guilty and would have to be banned as many of us have our own site however I think the positive feedback should could count for something. I know you Chas, Chris and myself as well as many others put in countless hours to help out and research and make this industry shine into something we can all be proud of so if they ban one they will have to ban us all. I believe the amount of advertising to be very minimal and non flagrant, there a special someone who should be banned from here but you are not him Doc. Just my take on the whole thing.

  14. Thanks for getting back to us on this one Conan! I think both anecdotal input about people's REAL LIFE experiences with their spas here, and ACCURATE STATS from an agency like the Better Business Bureau whose mission statement includes:

"The BBB's value to the business community is based on our neutrality. The purpose of the BBB system is not to act as an advocate for businesses or consumers, but to act as a mutually trusted intermediary to resolve disputes, to facilitate communication, and to provide information on ethical business practices. Businesses have supported the BBB for over 80 years because an ethical marketplace is in everyone's best interest."

I wonder how desperate a business rep like DRSPA has to be to come on a forum like this and start posting false "stats" about the top major brands AND suggesting they came from the BBB when the BBB's own web site doesn't match what he has posted at all....what motivates a person like this? I guess I don't know enough about this industry to understand why a person would open themselves up to this kind of serious liability and attack to their own integrity on a public forum?

Veronica , Dr Spa has been doing this for a long time so for you to be new here and to the world of spas, I am so insulted that you would come on here and question the mans integrity, I know Dr Spa and he is and has never been desperate. I am now questioning your motives of being on here you come on here wining about your spa and slamming the manufacturer I am starting to understand who is at fault for your unhappiness of the product!! Please refrain from desparaging the professionals here unless you know what it is your talking about! Possibly you may consider why you are here? Evaluate it and maybe move on, but your negative remarks regarding Dr Spa are not warranted or wanted here! With out even researching them I am certain his stats are accurate!!!!

  15. You don't need a dealer to install spas partially in the ground. You need a contractor who can dig a hole deep enough and put a concrete floor in it with concrete walls and a polyethelene 10 Gallon tank with a sump pump to keep water out of the "vault". I have worked with contractors as far away as NY State and Florida to install spas this way.

Try finding a contractor and put the spa that you want in.

OMG!!! WE AGREE ON SOMETHING!!! WRITE THIS DATE DOWN!!!!!!!! :o

  16. For all of the debates about this. One thing is for sure the vast majority of the most commonly respected brands are all full foam and those company's that offer both "most" have a "up" charge to do full foam, make no mistake it costs more money to build a spa with full foam.

Absolutely correct! Cal Spas does and L.A Spas did up until last year have fullfoam as an upcharge. I dont know what they are doing now.

  17. 1) You call that winter. That is a light dusting of snow.

    2) Nice outfit. Does your daughter know you have her shoes on?

LOL, I gotta stop by some time, looks like a nice area. Maybe we can visit our mutual friend from your area! :D

    [/qu

stop by anytime we will do lunch and I can show how easy it is to see a one of those spas no salesperson has supposedly seen!

  18. I don't know what "annaually" is? Is that something to do with anatomy?

By the way if your spa is out in the cold and you can't drain it all the way and all you have are table lamps, your darn will better put one inside the shell to keep it from freezing and stuff one or two inside the cabinet where the pumps are. This method has saved many spas from freezing. I am an expert on frozen spas, because I have seen many hundreds of them in Colorado. The cost for a frozen full foam southern Califorina spa to be repaired with freeze damage starts at $1000 and goes up from there as they pressurize the system and find the rest of the leaks. Oxymoron: Southern California Full foam spa in Colorado winter.

In case you forgot, when you are home alone and your spa is down, you need to do whatever you can to stop it from freezing. Any type of heat is better than being forced to get a new spa. Try running to KMart to get a heater, when it is below zero and in a snow blizzard, while your 6,000 california spa is sitting out in the cold with the equipment freezing.

I don't think you understand about Colorado winters. I have been in Colorado for 23 years.

I disagree as I grew up in Idaho where it would drop to 30 degrees below zero for days at a time!

Besides I also have some experience here in the winter.

    IPB Image

    IPB Image

However I still have not seen any power outages since I have been here, so I still dont understand the days of downtime as described previous!

  19. You can build a sub platform under the spa. Using pressure treated 2x4 cut as long wedges, placed about one foot apart. Then put plywood on top of that, pressure treated if you can find it. To determine the cut, us a 2x4 cut to the size of the base of the spa and a level. Place the level on the 2x4 and measuer the height at the end to the ground. That is the size of the mark on the end to cut.

    We do this often enough.

Dont use plywood unless you want to build it annaually, this is the same guy who uses cardboard to remove water from a draining spa and a lightbulb ran by an extenioncord in an empty spa to keep it from freezing. Hoaky at best!!Build your platform correctly the first time using only pressure treated lumber!
