  1. We actually poured some cement under the coping of the pool to help stabilize and reinforce it to keep it from flexing, then I sanded the coping all the way around the pool to eliminate the glossy surface and used a marine adhesive to fasten the brick coping to the fiberglass coping. It seem to have worked well. The original contractor used silicone to fasten thier bricks and although it held well it was flexible and have some give to it, which in turn caused the grout to crack inbetween the bricks. By the way, note the use of "we", the second contractor backed out of the contract after he had the coping fall off, leaving me stranded once again. I saved a lot of money doing it myself though, it it actually came out better than the pro's.
  2. Do you know if this is the company formrly known as Blue Dolphin? Blue Dolphin supposedly was bought by Blue Hawiiaan or they bought thier company but not thier warranty. They claim they are not associated with blue dolphin, they just bought thier plant is what they say.

  4. Well folks, I had a pool installed here in Florida by a contractor for Blue Hawiian and it was a nightmare. Needless to say I had to terminate the contractor and clean up thier mess. Now Blue Hawiian refuses to issue a warranty or resolve any issues I have with the pool. They say the only way is to resolve issues with the contractor. Over my dead body will the contractor ever step foot on my property again. I just want the world to know that Blue Hawiian claims they have great customer service, etc. but it has taken me over three months just to get them to respond to me. Their cutomer service sucks. Be careful people. A warranty isn't even worth the paper it's printed on. My next step is to picket in front of the contractors office and possibly Blue Hawiian's too.
  5. We have been having problems with our fiberglass pool installation since the day the contractor stepped on our property. Any way we now have contracted with someone to install our coping and paving bricks around our pool. The other day they came by and installed the coping using thin set with an additive. It seemed to work great. Then you step on the coping and the brick pops loose (two days later after its grouted) after that they all popped. The contractor says because the coping is flexible that is why it popped. Re-inforce it with concrete he says. So I did. Now the coping is as rigid as anything. But guess what? The coping still pops loose from the fiberglass. The part of the fiberglass that was sanded heavily stuck better but it still poped loose. The pervious contractor stuck the bricks with silicone and it held great, but the bricks would have some give to them and the grout cracked. What is the best adhesive to use to attach a masonry coping brick to a fiberglass coping? Another question too! Whose fault is it that the coping came off the pool? is it mine? Is the contractor responsible to redo the job that didn't hold up for more than 2 days. (He hasn't been paid yet, he's on vacation for 2 weeks which means my pool won't get finished now for at least three if not four more weeks. He did get a 50% deposit 12 weeks ago though)
  6. Our contractor installing a Blue Hawaiian Pool here in Florida has been in bussiness over ten years and they screwed up our pool something bad and Blue Hawaiian isn't doing anything about it. It is disgusting.
  7. I am re-writting this because for some reason I can't find my original complaint on this forum no matter what I do. We are having a Blue Hawaiian Pool installed and let me tell you, It has been a nightmare. We are going on three months now. First the contractor set the pool in the ground and filled it with water and backfilled it before leveling it. After the water got high enough to notice the pool was 2 inches out of level. I told the contractor it was out of level and it took two weeks and a transit to convince them, along with an all out argument. A blind person could see two inches in the difference of levelness. So what did the contractor do, they dug a ditch around it and tried to level it while it was full of water. While they were trying to level it the second time they were pounding 4x4's under the coping with sledge hammers; after there was a very loud cracking sound they decided they better let some water out. They finally got it pretty level and continued to procede. Of course they have all this untreated wood that they plan to pour concrete around. Well then they put the pool equipment over three feet from where it was supposed to be located. What an argument that was too. Then they are putting a brick coping on the pool. I have a freeform pool, at first they weren't even cutting the bricks, just putting them side by side and filling inbetween them with concrete; one end of the brick joint had an inch and a half of concrete while the other end had none. I told them it wasn't right and they started over, now they started cutting them and cut them backwards and all sorts of ways making it look like a puzzle was being put together. My children could have done better. A lawyer looked at the pictures and said he thought they were trying to make a design, he asked me what the design was supposed to be. The contractor walked off the job because they obviously can't do it right. I have tried to contact Blue Hawaiian Pools and they even asked me to send them a letter. I haven't gotten any help from Blue Hawaiian and highly doubt they will do anything. They told me point blank they "only manufacture them" they don't regulate the installers, all they care about is selling pools. I told them all I want is a warranty and a gaurantee that they will stand behind the pool. As expected Blue Hawaiian has not responded. We were going to go with a viking pool and should have. Live and learn. After the fact I found numerous people with problems with this same contractor and Blue Hawaiian could care less. The almighty dollar is what counts. If Blue Hawaiian helps me out I'll let you know, otherwise I'd buy a concrete pool or better yet a BOAT. At least you buy a new boat you get warranty service, you buy a fiberglass pool it's a crapshoot. Any one have any suggestions or Ideas. I am going to end up in a lawsuit over this pool. I have a million pictures and a video tape of them doing exactly what they aren't supposed to do. Any help would be appreciated.
