  1. LOL. No plumbing or equipment yet to post pictures of but that WAS funny. Yes, there is some PVC in already and its the rigid kind. 2", schedule 40 I want to say, but don't quote me.
  2. there was really no sarcasm intended. I said I appreciated the things you pointed out and tried to explain myself. I am no english major either, and not a professional picture labeler, so that didn't help me either. Lets lay this one to rest. thx
  3. wow you're pretty angry. You should really chill. regarding:<<try reading the post before pm'ing me to "please stop" >> I didn't private message you saying "please stop" - that was the SUBJECT of YOUR post to me. gee whiz, I mis-labeled the picture as steel complete, when I didn't realize the crew was coming back in the morning to put blocks underneath the steel etc. and do the skimmer to finish the job. I guess I didn't realize that my simple picture would attract a professional that could scrutinize a picture from afar and, also, how do you know how strict Palm Beach County FL code is. The steel was inspected and pretty closely I might add. And I have never posted any other pictures. I didn't have the contractor re-check their work, I only asked questions to get information and all was answered to my satisfaction. I hope you don't turn anyone else off to this board like you have me. There's always one.
  4. Just to update / clarify, I had posted a picture that got a lot of attention from a forum member who was able to see so much from such a small picture. I verified all suggestions from him (after getting a little nervous) and had everything explained and pointed out to me. I am satisfied that construction is going well and realized that I take some of the stuff I read a little too seriously. The picture I posted was not a "completed" version but I think for now I will refrain from posting pictures
  5. Not sure how to respond since I am not an expert by far, however, I respect your comments. I believe that the steel tex and rebar become "encased" in the gunite as you said, on both sides.. As for how they are tied, yes I believe they are tied at 12" (1 ft). It is getting inspected either today or tomorrow. It must meet code or won't pass. From the reputation of the co, I know they do code work. Whether they EXCEED code is another question. Perhaps what you are explaining is work that exceeds code. I'm not saying we skimped, but we did opt for their very basic pool. I know if you "upgrade", there is perhaps heavier rebar, etc. but as for code, I am confident they are building to code. Honestly, I could not see your picture closely enough to see anything different, except perhaps around the perimeter. Your pool is quite large - wow. This pool is 14x28, a large bathtub. Im sure this doesn't have any bearing, but I will mention this to our guy when I see him. Thanks for your input.
  6. didn't realize my picture had so much detail.
  7. we decided to go with the pavers, and its nice also that if for any reason you have a problem underneath them, they are easy to take up, where with concrete, you would have to break up the concrete. but everyone has their own preference.....
  8. Karen, so where in FL are you. Yes, we do have a contract. Just firming up the financing this week. We negotiated the orig. quote a little tiny bit. We are going with minimal decking (pavers) and we would even have tried to do with a little less (2 ft around the back portion of the pool instead of 3ft. - hard to explain - but anyway, the difference in price was so small, the sales rep said just keep it the way it is, "threw in" the pool cleaner (Hayward Navigator) and we settled on $500 less. We really couldn't complain because it includes the salt generator we wanted and another co. wanted 400 dollars more for. The pool we will eventually have is 28x14, free form, 3-5 ft., nothing fancy. We are in Boca Raton - where are you?
  9. we also just got a few estimates and what we did was after we figured out what we liked and wanted from the first quote, we asked for the same things quoted from the companies that came out afterward so we could compare apples to apples like you said. Its definitely easier to compare that way. We're wondering how long everything will take now since we had Hurricane Wilma come thru here. Permitting to begin with will probably take longer than usual, so who knows how long our relatively small project will take
  10. thanks for the reply ! We are getting the salt generator, so the water quality for them (and us) will be nice. Hopefully this will help out with the dogs being wet. (A dog dryer? ) thanks again.
  11. Hi - we don't have our pool built yet, but just wondering for those of you who have dogs that swim in your pool. Anything special you do to your pool after they swim to effectively filter the hair or ? Just curious. I have no clue if my dogs can swim, but I'm sure they'd love it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions Shari
  12. Can anyone suggest a company that makes an affordable pool cover that I would only be using to cover / protect my pool during a storm / hurricane to prevent debris from falling in. We are in FL and the pool would be open all year, so this would be something I would put on and take off periodically June through November. thanks for any suggestions.
