  1. Glad to hear it. Wish I heard of Trilogy earlier. I went with the other 'Georgia' manufacturer. While I'm now ok with my pool, I wish I would have went with Trilogy. I forgot her name, (Michelle maybe?)from Trilogy, but she was VERY helpful and knowledgeable with my questions. If I had to do it all over again, I'd give Trilogy a VERY close look.
  2. Here's some pictures. The one where the cantilever meets the pool edge is pretty much everywhere around the pool-that started about 3-5 months after install. The big crack around the ladder started about 7-8 months after install. I believe my contractors did NOT put any kind of footer or anything else under the lip of the pool coping to shore it up. I believe this is where most of the problem is coming from... ALSO, I noticed today while looking a little closer, you can see duct tape still in place between the concrete coping and pool edge(where the coping is flaking off). They used this to secure the cantilever forms.
  3. Deck is just plain concrete-no coating. The ground is all clay, and the pool is not leaking. I can post some pictures later if that helps. Thanks again for the help!
  4. Looks like some knowledgeable people here, so I'll throw my question in. I hope it's not hijacking the thread, but it seems relevant to the OP. I had a monolithic slab/decking with cantilevered edge poured around my new fiberglass install about 15 months ago. I have 2 major problems that I don't consider normal. 1) Where the cantilevered edge meets the fiberglass pool, chunks(as in up to 1-2" high by various lengths) are falling off. This started within 3 months of install. I don't consider this normal, but of course my concrete guy said it's due to it being a monolithic slab and there's nothing I can do about it. 2) Major cracks have started around the ladder area-extending to the cantilevered coping. The crack goes through the entire depth of the concrete, as ants are now coming up through the opening. Expansion joints were cut at regular intervals, but it seems as though one section of the concrete decking has possibly shifted-causing the bigger cracks. This cracking started about 6-7 months after install. Aside from the aesthetics, I'm worried about large sections of concrete falling on to somebody trying to use the ladder. Any ideas what is causing this, whether it's considered normal in the industry, and what my options are? My contractor has assured me several times over the past year that he would repair it, that it was no problem to fix, but he's been dragging me on for nearly a year now. Finally, when push came to shove, they are completely changing their tune saying they won't back the work, and that concrete 'just cracks'-and there's nothing they can/will do about it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  5. I know it's a little late for the follow up, but here you go. They came out last summer and fixed the crack. As you said, you never would have known it was there. Hard to be more impressed than that...
  6. I'd also check out http://www.fiberglasspools.com/....Trilogy Pools. I spoke with one of their reps and if I had to do it all over again, I'd give them a serious look. I didn't know about them until after my install. I went with Tallman. The thing I liked about them was they manufacture and install their own pools(no finger pointing if something goes wrong). However, the only thing I could say is I regret subbing out the concrete decking to someone other than Tallman. I wanted something just a little nicer than what Tallman offered, so Tallman recommended a local concrete guy. I won't mention the biz name here, because we're still working on resolving a few issues. Let me know if you want to see the finished product some time. I live just south of Atlanta.
  7. Well, my concrete contractor, the one the came highly recommended, has failed to deliver in just about every way so far. The fiberglass pool was installed last December. At that time, the "colored" brown concrete we specifically asked to be poured came out battleship grey. He assured us that in 72 hrs/3 weeks/3 months the color would come around as the concrete cured. In the mean time, he applied a colored sealer that still was not to our satisfaction. We went with a pre-colored concrete so as to not have color problems if the concrete chipped. We had the contractor back last week, and he assured us the color was brown. Funny, at best you could say it has a tannish tint to it when the sun hits it right. I MAY be able to live with that tint, but it certainly wasn't what I paid TOP dollar for-more than ANY other contractor that bid the job. We paid top dollar because these guys were supposed to be "the best." HAH! To make matters worse, the canti-levered concrete edging is coming off in chunks where the concrete meets the fiberglass. $40k into a brand new pool and it looks like crap, and continues to fall apart! So, the guy says he will come back and seal/color the concrete til it's the color I want(which defeats the purpose of pre-coloring the concrete in the first place.) He also said the coping falling apart was to blame on the flexing fiberglass pool(it couldn't possibly be his shoddy work, right?) However, since he's such a good guy, and will stand behind his work...he'll have the loose/crumbling coping scraped off and the coping re-surfaced. So, any thoughts on this? Will the concrete continue to crumble after the repair job? Mainly, I'm bent about paying top dollar for the "best" around and getting bad service. Is there something about canti-levered concrete and fiberglass pools that don't match? I'm seconds away from throwing the SOB off the job and getting some cash back...in court if need be.
  8. Nope, no problems with positive feedback on a product. However, it looks suspect when nearly every single one of your posts seems to end up with you trumpeting all the wonderful things about Waterworld. I've been on and read plenty of discussion forums taking good with the bad, and have never once, until now, called anyone out that I've suspected of being a "shill." If you do not have a business association with Waterworld, or have no direct financial interest in their product, then I apologize. Otherwise, just admit your affiliation.
  9. Toni, are you a shill? You seem to be hyping Waterworld Pools at absolutely every opportunity.
  10. So, our new 18'x43' fiberglass pool was installed and final walkthrough was about 2 weeks ago. The permit isn't event closed yet due to a non self-closing gate issue (thats a different story.) We haven't even used the pool once. Today, while cleaning the pool, I noticed a crack at the bottom of the pool right beside the main drain. At first, I thought it may be dirt, but after running the brush along it my worst fears were confirmed. I could actually feel the texture of the crack in the handle of the extension pole while running over it with the brush! The crack is about 1 foot long and a smaller one has started about 1 inch adjacent and parallel. I called up the pool installer, they manufacture their own pools, and they asked me to check if it is leaking. I made some reference marks on the water level and will call back in the A.M. Suffice it to say, I've soured a long time ago on expecting good business ethics from 95% of contractors, and expect this to go no differently. I'm quite angry right now, but being a brand new pool owner I'm not sure what to expect. My thoughts are that being into this pool for ~$35k, and it being in the ground for a little over 30 days, the darn thing shouldn't crack in any way shape or form. I don't know that patching it is acceptable, in that if the pool cracked so early, it's just a symptom of a shotty install, and/or worse things to come. So, a little feedback would help here. What is considered a "hairline" crack? What would be reasonable expectations for a newly installed pool? Is a patch on a crack so early in the pools life acceptable? What would be considered a reasonable resolution?(right now, I'm not feeling too reasonable). Oh, and for the record....I DID NOT DRAIN THE POOL!!!
