  1. second shop in town was kind enough to dig around in service manuals, and suggested that the error indicates that the tub has tested for and cannot find a proper ground loop and should be tripping the GFI. I was horrified to look at the wiring done on my tub, and I will be re-doing the wiring when I return home next week with a proper ground that doesn't bypass the GFI breaker- my tub has been unsafe to sit in since installed. I'll keep flipping the breaker to re-set the tub to heat it but geeze, I feel bad letting people sit in it. Lesson learned will not hire that electrician again: if you want something done..... EDIT: right now there is a "power whip" from the outside box to the tub properly connected 8ga 4 wires, and from the box to the house there is 8-3 wire. I'm planning to replace the box-> house with 8-4 so there is two hots / neutral/ ground, any issues with that? Also, I won't bypass the GFI breakers in the outdoor box obviously.
  2. Dealer says the heater is over heating and tub is going into shutdown mode... sending a tech to take a look at it. $59.50 worth of milage, thank goodness for Coleman's warranty!
  3. I had to wuss out tonight.. We're expecting -20 without the wind, and the wind is hitting the only direction that I get while sitting in the tub... -45 with the wind means I won't be venturing out... if the wind was out of a different direction I'd be in there right now.
  4. Tub is a 2008 model, no circ pump, pump 1 low is circ/heat/filter... recently had a couple boards and the heater replaced, might call and see if the dealer knows more. Thanks guys!
  5. Thanks for the reply! The F1/F2 lights aren't on (they have seperate indicators for the filter timers) last time around it was 2 weeks before the message re-appeared. I just changed the filter when the 9F1 appeared the first time (3 weeks ago). If it happens again I'll leave the breakers off for a longer period, but flipping them for 2-3 min gets everything going again as normal so I found it a little odd.
  6. Anyone know what this is? Display Reads 9 F 1 buttons do nothing. I power cycle all is good for a few weeks, now it pops back up tonight, must have been in error state for a while water is chilly. (was going to soak after scooping the driveway, damn hot tub never works when it should). First time it did it I thought might be the filter (wasn't really that bad, but...) I put a brand new one in it, and have been in it 4 times since. Thanks!
  7. does the topside show 102 degrees? normally "ICE" mode is based on a certain temp being reached (is on mine, anyway)..
  8. Nice I like the built in weatherdirect or weatherunderground integration, no need to run a weathersation software on the PC to check temps remotely (say, away on business, or out for the night with the lady and coming back for some tub time...)
  9. took a dip tonight and it was -44 with the windchill, very, VERY brisk walk after getting out!
  10. Looks like we might have a few good days for it coming up.. I just shoveled the 10 inches we got while I was gone off the cover and made sure it was still heating after last week's debacle.
  11. What are you using to monitor the temp of your tub remotely (if anything)? I really want to be able to monitor it from within the house..
  12. Yea, he replaced the ozonator and the pressure switches 'while he was in there' because they now use newer 'better' ones. He was looking at the stuff I've done to the house and commented on the fact that he was sure I could have figurd it out and gotten it fixed. That makes me feel good, until i remember he was out there in 5 degree weather fixing it.
  13. Snowing is one of my favorite times to hit the tub- I never take a towel out anyway, so that's not an issue, just flip flops like Hillbilly. I'm a fan of the 'polar bear' experience (despite the extra upkeep that comes with it) of jumping in the snow, doing a little roll, then hopping back in the hot tub (we get deep snow). It's not for everyone (weak hearts avoid) but its' a blast and a heckuva rush! A night with no wind and a hard snow is a great hot tub experience!
  14. Well here is how it shook down: Guy noticed board had a burn mark that I didn't see (woops) so he started by replacing the board. I casually mentioned the heater was seeing 240V and he said "yea, we want to get this burned board out of here anyway. He put a new board in, still no heat dice, then changed the heater out, and viola, heat! Buttoned it up and it's gone from 58 to 67 in a matter of 45 min. All is well!
  15. Thanks for the help, the tub is about 3 years old. I put the meter on and the heater is seeing 240v, tub is in normal mode (i cycled through econ and sleep just to make sure). Place i bought it from tried to phone trouble shoot it for a while and now their tech is tearing it apart, he's guessing somethign minor, and it's still covered under Coleman warr., so that's good news. I have to say a big thanks though, this forum was a lot of help (reading old threads etc) and I've found out a TON about my tub, and will be sticking around. I found out I can put in a 2nd top side in the house, so I want to do that to be able to monitor it more easily and a few other things, and explore chemical options (using chlorine right now) etc. I'll be around!! I'll let you know what it turns out to be/etc guy said it was all set correctly and should be heating.
  16. No flashing lights on the topside besides the 'jets' and 'heating' light, I took a video of the topside in case that helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WJ-pHtNTSE&feature=player_embedded
  17. Okay further digging suggests the F2 light means it's within its' filter 2 timing and it should be heating and the low jet 1 should be running, so according to the topside there are no errors, i'm leaning on bad element and have called the spa service people..
  18. It has a series of lights on the topside (F1 / F2 / etc) and the F2 light is lit solid, does that mean a filter is clogged? Still not heating, 71 and dropping..
  19. I moved my coleman hot tub to this home about 2 months ago and it's been running like a champ until sometime two days ago. I had been out of town and the tub had been used by family, didn't think anything of it. Chemicals were spot on, got in and noticed the sound of the heater/jets changed when I got in. At that point i noticed it was lowish on water (filter was submerged but seemed like the pressure switch was kicking in when I got out of the tub as it got quieter..). Anyway I didn't at the time know it even had a pressure switch whatever, and didn't think much of it other than to note I needed to fill it, and while doing so would be a good time to change a portion of water and shock it. I opened it to partially drain and refill today (first day above freezing in a while, and last for a while too i'm sad to say) and noticed it was at 81 degrees instead of the 101 i've got it set at. No errors on the screen, etc and the heater pump is running and moving water and the heater icon is going on the tub. At this point I didn't panic: I assumed that the low water level was to blame and simply grabbed the garden hose and topped it off. After 2 hours closed up and full of water the temp had moved from 81 to 74 (I topped of with cold water, so that wasn't unusual I guess). I left it another 2 hours and it was still at 74, heater running the whole time. I cycled through the jet settings on both jets 1 and jets2 and the jets worked fine full pressure etc. I came in and searched online and found a myriad of possible reasons this may be occuring so I've set to troubleshooting: I yanked the filter (I ordered a new one earlier today) as someone reported a dirty filter causing low flow and no heating. I turned the power off to the tub for about 10 min and then back on to see if anything weird errored and needed to be reset. I'm waiting to see if these two helped (just did them, then registered here to see if someone would have insight ) Any other tricks or suggestions? I'm going to get the model number and stuff from the dealer tomorrow morning right away and see if they have any suggestions, but after tomorrow our highs here are going to be 10degrees and below, so I'd really like to get this fixed and not freeze my tub. TIA --- Freezing in SD
