  1. Hi. It was not empty all winter. I refilled it before winter and balanced the water. I kept it going all winter, just never went in it.
  2. Hello. I suddenly got this yellow debris in my hot tub. In the fall before winter, I drained the tub and flushed out the pipes with Ahh-Some. I have not used the tub all winter. I use the dichlor then bleach method and have been putting in bleach all winter. When I first discovered this debris I super chlorinated it and ran the clean cycle. It cleared up then it just came right back. I included some pictures below. Anyone know what this could be or how I should get rid of it? I have never had this happen before.
  3. I opened my hot tub today to find a dead frog in it. It smells like a swamp and there is debris in the tub (from the frog I assume). It had to have been in there for about 72 hours judging from the last time the tub was opened. I promptly drained the tub and cleaned out the debris. Tomorrow I will refill and start the decontamination procedure. Any special advice out there besides just following the decon procedure? Does anyone know if I have to balance the tub before doing the spa flush/ swirl away since I will be doing it after a fresh fill? Praying my tub will recover from this mess!
  4. I am using the dichlor then bleach method. I had to top off my water because the water level got a little low. I shocked to 10 ppm FC after adding the additional water. I rechecked all my levels, but forgot about CYA. When I tested it was below 30, but still had some CYA since the testing water was cloudy. I think I am still okay?? I will add a little dichlor next time to raise CYA to 30. Also, does anyone add additional borates after topping off the water?
  5. I am new to hot tubs. Just got a used Hot Springs Prodigy. It has been winterized (pipes blown out) and the drain caps have been left off as instructed in the user manual. Since then some water has gotten into the bottom and seats of the tub and froze up. It was not a huge amount of water, guessing 4-6 cups worth?? I assume the manual instructs that the drain caps be left off so that any water that get inside can drain out? Do I need to worry about pipe damage in this instance? How much water would have to get inside to cause damage? Any advice would help.
