  1. still searching for the right gently used tub. What are your opinions on the 641R? I'm looking at a used one that is up and running and in good apparent condition. Looking at a price of $3200 that includes delivery. I'm sure this isn't a steal - but is it a decent deal? Thanks for any help you can provide - Dan
  2. In my continued search for/at used spas, I recently came across a used 2004 Reward. I'm also looking at a 2008 Reward. What significant differences would there be, structurally, quality, insulation/energy efficiency, features, etc., between these two year models. I can obviously see that the 2004 is a wood cabinet - is that an issue? The 2004 has a new ozonator and cover. The 2004 is $1500 cheaper. Assuming I have a hot tub tech go over both and there are no outstanding issues - what is a better deal, a 2004 Reward for $2,200, or a 2008 for $3,700? I'm sure this is a shades of gray question as opposed to black and white, but opinions from folks with experience with either of these tubs would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Ok, don't laugh at me too hard - what are the subpanels?
  4. Trying to get a spa and stay under $5K. Have been looking at the Costco Evolutions, and also looking at Craiglist for a newer model used on an higher end tub. Have found two used tubs that have caught my interest, a 2008 Marquis Reward and a 2007 HotSprings Vanguard. The asking for the 2008 Marquis is $3900, the asking for the Vanguard is $4500. I'd guess that assuming these two tubs are both in good shape, they should be of about equal used value? Anything I should know about one vs. the other? Any tips on what to look for when evaluating a used tub? My goal would be to offer about $3500 for the one I want and see what happens. All opinions, advice, etc. greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the sanity check folks. We're taking a trip this weekend. When I get back I'll give him a call, go take a look, and go from there shooting for no more the $4K. $4K to $5K was about the limit of what I wanted to spend (I can move it myself and the electric will be straightforward where we plan to place it). So I've been looking at some of the cheaper new tubs (i.e. Costco) and used tubs (such as the one described). I know there are vastly differing opinions on which of those it the wiser choice (and I waffle back and forth myself). Any input opinions are appreciated and welcome. Our last tub was a cheap Coscto tub (a Winchester can came in a CalSpa box as I recall). It was nothing fancy but we were pretty satified with it. Of course I usually prefer the jets off and just like sitting in a still steaming tub early in the mornings with a cup of coffee - so my bar is fairly low! The tub we had before that was and old Hot Springs Soveirn that we bought used. It was a bit of a problem child, but I have to admit I liked the moto massage, and kind of prefered the little 24hr circ pump....
  6. Thanks. I thought it seemed pretty high too. Thinking of offering something closer to $4K and see what happens....
  7. We just moved and left our old hot tub at the old house. Am looking at some used options and have found a 2007 Hot Springs Vanguard for sale. It doesn't have a stereo or any extra options exept a cover lift. Price is $5700 or best offer. Seems to be in nice shape. $5700 seems a bit high for a used tub that I'll have to move and set up, but I really don't have anything to base that off of. Any opinions out there of what might be a fair "best offer" to throw out there? Thank you in advance for any thoughts, opinion, advice, etc.....
