  1. not to get into specifics with my chem, but it would appear that my water was out of balance (who knows if soap was even put in there). Being a newbie does make it difficult to keep things in the right balance, but the folks at the spa store really take the time to explain things and help me out. Really appreciate their assistance. Took the advice of gman above and shocked..shocked..and shocked until the bubbles went away and the tub cleared up. Then I waited for the chlorine level to drop to a safe number before getting in. Used the tub for two days, but still noticed some foaming, so I went to the spa store for a full water test. Spa store folks told me my alkalinity was low and that would cause foaming - along with body oils, soaps, etc. I'm raising the alkalinity a bit and also picked up some defoamer. They'll test my water for me again for me next week to make sure I'm balanced. Also picked up some Spa Flush to follow Nitro's decontamination process. If I can't keep things balanced - I'll go that route to start fresh. May even do so in the Spring anyway just for peace of mind. Thanks for all the kind advice. As I said - newbie here - so still learning....and enjoying.
  2. shocking now. We'll see if that helsp! Thanks.
  3. I was in my tub last night with no problems at all. I know I wasn't soapy because I had just gotten done playing basketball. Anyway - I get up this morning - flip on the jets and add some chlorine. After a couple minutes, I went back to turn the jets off and the tub was looking like a washing machine. I think someone may have put soap in my tub last night as a prank. I have an 01 Sumatran, and the only chemicals I have in there are Stain and Scale and Chlorine. Water is only about 10 days old. I've noticed a small amount of bubbling in the past, but figured it was simply from skin and hair products. This looked like a prank! Looking for advice - empty tub or add something to take away the soap?
  4. I'm in Barberton (Akron area) and will keep mine set at the temp for using - 104. Neighbor keeps laughing saying he can't wait to see my electric bill. Just got the used 01 Sumatran about a month ago, so this will be my first winter with it. I'm not worried. If it comes in too high - I'll just go outside and relax in a hot tub!! That's what it is there for, right?
  5. Devcon held the weekend so I packed insulation back in. Used the fill a bag with insulation and stuff in there method instead of spraying expansion foam in. Also put the panels back on - pain in the rear to do that, but they went back on with some liquid nails and a staple gun. Anyway - filled the tub and was able to use it for the first time last night. Thanks for the assistance and suggestions.
  6. I purchased the flex PVC, 3/8 hose, jets and fitting (T and right angle) from my local spa dealer. Spa was used, but the folks at the local dealer are awesome and bend over backwards to help. Any other PVC I needed I grabbed at Home Depot - Schedule 40 PVC.
  7. 2001 sumatran with same problem. Guru suggested the Devcon Plastic Welder - put it on a piece of cloth and wrap around the leak area. I found my leak - just like you, but replaced the jet and pipes. The jet next to it started to leak, so I replaced both jets this time. Upon filling with water again, the flex pvc at the T joint started to leak. Literally 30 minutes ago I went the Devcon route. I mixed it and spread it along a strip of cloth - and wrapped around the joint. I let that set for 15 minutes - and then spread out the repair with two more strips of cloth with Devcon on them overlapping either side of the the first cloth strip. Keeping fingers crossed that this will stop the leak. I'm running out of original pipe and tubing to connect into!! : )
  8. Thanks - but in NE Ohio. I'll try some area art stores though.
  9. Guys at home depot thought I was crazy. That's exactly what I was thinking to replace it with. Glad someone else is on board - Thank you! And yes - Tiger River Sumatran.
  10. Ok - I had to dig into my fully insulsated spa from underneath. To do so, I needed to break through a hard plastic shell and then dig out the sprayed in expandable insulation. No problem replacing the spray insulation - I can buy that anywhere. Has anyone replaced the hard shell after spraying in the insulation? Spa store said something like $100. I said no. The shell/plastic is about 1/8" thick. Just wondering if I can buy it anywhere and spray it on there myself. Thanks
  11. Leak was in a pvc joint at the bottom set of jets. I cut out the leaking joint - unscrewed jet - and cut tube and flex pvc. Made connections and replaced everything to the jet. Next day - filled tub and turned those jets on. Everthing held fine. However - the jet next to it has a joint leaking now!! Gotta love this stuff. So, now two new jets and components are on their way. The jet I just replaced will be cut out and both jets, pipes, tubes will be replaced in the next day or so. This is fun! Hard part is tearing into the insulation and getting to the pipes that need cut out. Easy part is working with the PVC and tubing. Tub will be used soon! : )
  12. Thanks - I noticed - and did end up using a screwdriver to get under there and pull them off slowly. I was able to pull off what I needed (or at least I think) and dig in deep to find the leak. It is on the corner with the 8 or so jets - filter side, just other corner. I've dug out most of the foam, but still need to clear some more to really figure out what I'm looking at. So far seems to be a couple elbows leading into the jets with a piece of ridged tube in the middle. It is either one of the elbows or the tube that is leaking. More digging and maybe a mirror will help.
  13. I purchased an 01 Sumatran "as is." I've already fixed one leak which required me to put it up on blocks and dig under the spa. However - while it is still up on blocks and I'm testing to make sure the fix holds - I spotted a new leak. This one is coming out from behind the panel on the corner. I can remove the panels on each side of the spa - as they are held in with 6 screws. However, I haven't the slightest idea on how to remove the CORNER panels. I need to be able get this corner pane off so I can ge to the jets where I believe the leak is coming from. Any idea on how to PROPERLY remove the corner panels of a Tiger River Sumatran? Thanks!
