  1. I'm looking for a replacement stereo and remote for my HT. 2660-409 J-400 LCD JBL System Stereo The original stereos didn't last, basically junk. I replaced more than as a rebuilt. Have any techs retrofitted one? If so could you recommend a model? I think I can probably retrofit a marine unit and use a proprietary remote to work the stereo. Wiring the speakers seems like the only wiring issue. Second question is about the remote. I've found them online but they are nearly $300. Are there any options? Better prices anywhere. 6560-336 RF Remote with LCD Display
  2. We got ours around the same time. When I replace it it will be with a marine stereo. Just an FYI I got my refurbished stereos from https://www.prospecelectronics.com/index.php they no longer carry the JBL model. My replacement might be an Infinity INF-PRV350. It will take some faceplate modification to install but I think it'll work fine. Unfortunately no remote except for using my phones bluetooth.
  3. What has been other members experience with these stereos? We love ours but they are far from reliable. Our first one died under warranty, #2 died shortly after our warranty expired and now #3 is not functioning properly. Inside the cabinet is dry and our HT is under our deck so it doesn't get that wet.
  4. From what my dealer told me is the jacuzzi's (I have a 480)get there air from inside the cabinet, which is warmed from the pumps running. How warm I couldn't say. We've been running our 480 every night here in Ga with average temps being around 40 the last couple of nights. We'll drop a degree at most so far with the cover off for 40 mins.
  5. There ya go, play with it so it is right for your needs at the lowest run time. Keep in mind that good feeling water and even crystal clear water is not neccesarily clean water. A sanitizer needs to be used and MPS is NOT a sanitizer. A tablespoon of chlorine WILL kill bacteria. I obviously have much to learn about water yet. Now I'm also using an ozanator and a mineral sanitizer. So I assume that'll take care of the bacteria?
  6. Thanks for the info. I'm using monopersulfate as a sanitizer and have been very happy with the feel of the water. After getting a little more familiar with the spa and its options I can set start/duration time for all 3 pumps. I will probably back down down on the circ pump run time and allow the primary pump to run in addition.
  7. I would need some clarification on this. Is it truely a circ pump or is it the jet pump set to circulate for 24 hours? That tub will come either way actualy, 24/7 circ pump or jet pump set to circulate and filter for up to 24 hrs a day. How many pumps does it have? It has 3 pumps 1 circ and 2 jet.
  8. Yes, it does have an ozonator. Thanks for the info.
  9. Just got our J480 and the #1 circ pump was set for a 24 hour run time. That was prolly just for startup to get the tub good and clean. Now that that's done was the suggested runtime? Its just my wife and I. Suggestions?
  10. Congrats on your new HT!! We had ours installed on Friday and have been in it a couple of times already. Enjoy!!
  11. We looked at the Sundance models also and went with the J480. One of the things that we preferred over the sundance was the waterfall that runs without the circ pumps and its height. No noise just cascading water. Also the jacuzzi has a lighted/raised foot dome. Pretty sure the warranty's are the same with jacuzzi and sundance. They are both owned by Jacuzzi.
  12. Our new Jacuzzi has a floating remote that has that feature.
  13. We tubbed in the snow a few years back in Tahoe after a day of hitting the slopes, It was GREAT!. We just got 6-8" of snow here in Atlanta and our new J480 HT is being delivered tomorrow!! We can't wait!
  14. $300 for a $10 breaker and a $70 Spa disconnect? Swapping out both breakers would take all of 20 minutes.
  15. You'll need to check the wire size also. 50amp is probably #8 wire while 60 amp should be #6 wire. Preferably THHN stranded. I just wired my J480 and used a 60amp breaker with #6 THHN to a 60amp GFCI disconnect out at the tub. Here's a copy of the electrical requirements that I received from my J dealer. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  16. Is there a build date on Jacuzzi tubs? If so where is it located?
  17. I installed the breaker, GFCI disconnect and ran the conduit and pulled the wire. I'll have 3' of wire where the conduit terminates from the right side outside corner (looking at tub). Will that be enough? I know I should have gotten more but I didn't. About where are the connections inside the tub? I don't mind pulling new wire just rather not have 3-20' pieces of #6 THWN wire leftover that I'll never use. Thx
  18. The wet test was awesome. We ordered it today, actually it was $14600, I forgot about the 1k we put down. Can't wait for delivery!
  19. We went and looked at the J480 today and man is it nice. We were quoted a price of 13k out the door/delivered and installed. That's with the stereo, cover, start up kit, ozone gen, steps and a covermate. It's hard to get a feel for what these things run. Are we over paying? Thx. Going for a wet test tomorrow.
